Past Perfect Tension

I wrote this as a serious question.  Going by my wife's reaction, this is likely to get some folks with political leanings bent a little, but my question is left intentionally vague in the song.  If you're curious, what I'm really wondering is, with all the scientific and technological advances we've made in the last 50 years, what's the point if we're going to have a group growing in power deny science, deny education, deny vaccination, deny human rights, deny the validity of another group's right to exist.  We may as well be back in the days where at first glance, everything seemed easier and perfect if we're going to throw away all the progress we've made.  Just don't believe for one minute that it really was perfect.  Life isn't the Andy Griffith Show, where every problem is solved in 30 minutes.

Although I do not limit myself to a specific genre, I tend to produce alternative and hip-hop vibes with infusions and influence. Like to experiment with different styles and sounds and depending on the subject, but music and sound is key for me..
