During the birth of the internet, personal computers were seen as a foreign entity to the average consumer. Many were left scratching their heads at lines of convoluted code and mysterious ominous buttons. To counteract this fear, the shapers of the internet created off of an aesthetic that would emulate the real world. Liquid buttons of water, vast hills of glowing green grass, various menu icons in the shape of TV for channel surfing, it was all a step in the direction to help the consumer. However, this inspired hope as well, hope for a better future where eco friendly power and harmony reigned supreme. This aesthetic has been retroactively been dubbed "Frutiger Aero", and is something I am nostalgic for, even though I wasn't around yet to witness its glory. With the rise of flat design in the mid 2010s, the world forgot about this design type. It became the future we were promised, but never got. Blossoms of Aero explores this theme through three parts:

1 - Bright and ethereal space inspired by the themes of the Nintendo Wii to emulate the start of new beginnings.

2 - Fast and thriving, featuring breakcore drum patterns to highlight a thriving internet, inspired by Viet Cuong's Re(new)al.

3 - Lonely and sadly optimistic, the future we were promised but never got, inspired by Dragon Fish by C418.

I hope this piece brings you as much joy as I had creating it, and brings you back to a time when the future was bright. Both on the screen, and into our world.
