I wondered what bird species would inspire me to grab my recording gear this year, as we've slowly started to get more variety this spring, with Song Thrush and Great Tit leading the way but usually Blackbirds are the last thrush to the part so it was nice to be getting a few in full song today. This one was particularly nice though as it had a mixture of mimicry, some I didn't manage to capture but in this recording you'll hear many mimics of a Green Woodpecker, which just adds a bit of class. I think this blackbird has been influenced a lot by the Starlings that frequent the Gwent Levels, so it has quite the mixture. 

Gear: Sound Devices MixPre 6 ii + Schoeps CCM 4 inside Telinga Dish with Stereo Mk 2's outside. Had to cut out a lot of lower noise from sky trash sadly.
