When Pilah asked me to remix one of the tracks of his ‘O’Clock’ album, the choice was easy, as Birdy Nixon’s vocal on ‘Country Side’ directly transported me to the beautiful lakes, fields and forests in the regions north of Berlin, the forgotten gems of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg.
Working on the remix it immediately took me on a journey inspired by the many nights, festivals, garden parties, campfires and good times spent in those country side areas. With all kinds of music, the songs of the birds and the bees, the wind, the sounds of silence and life, away from Babylon… The outcome is a time-travel going back 10 to 15 years, somewhere in Meck Pomm where the wind picks up a dubby techno beat and carries the beautiful voice of Birdy Nixon thru an open window.

Just as "you cannot put wind in a bag," this wind soundscape composition depicts a journey of the wind from a moving perspective, starting from South Kensington Circle line station to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, then to my uni, and finally to the Island Gardens, also incorporating my piano improvisation. 
﻿
Inspired by the Taoist metaphor of “riding the wind,” which seeks to live in harmony with the wind rather than control it, I came up with a wind-related intermediary, the kite, to perceive the wind through a somewhat sense of touching—I borrowed kiting techniques for my piano improvisation to respond to the wind movement and its acoustic surroundings from a multisensory perspective, while also embarking on a journey of self-discovery, from riding the wind to fighting with the wind and eventually becoming the wind.

ORTF Field Recording Session 16/10/2025 in the Lagastrello Pass using Lewitt LCT 440 microphones in ORTF setup with Zoom F3 recorder. The Lagastrello Pass is a mountain pass in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (Italy), located at 1,198 meters above sea level, connecting Lunigiana (Tuscany) with the provinces of Parma and Reggio Emilia. It lies within the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park and is nearby Lake Paduli. The microphones were positioned in a woodland creek within a dry stream bed. The day was quite windy, and the autumn foliage colors of the trees ranged from yellow to deep red.

ORTF Field Recording Session 16/10/2025 in the Calamone Lake using Lewitt LCT 440 microphones in ORTF setup with Zoom F3 recorder. The Calamone lake is of glacial origin and lies at an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters. It is fed by three natural springs and is the largest natural lake in the province of Reggio Emilia (Italy). Its outlet, the Lonza River, is a tributary of the Enza River. It is surrounded by extensive beech and conifer forests in excellent condition. On the shores, there is a cluster of silver fir trees. During the recording the autumn foliage colors of the trees ranged from yellow to deep red. The microphones were placed near a woods path just above the lake, some hikers passing by on the path can be heard.
