Gastronomic Fantasy for Symphonic Band
Written for the 42nd Altea International Competition in Spain. Paella usually serves Spaniards to gather and celebrate parties. The work describes the process that rice takes since it matures and is harvested until it arrives at the table to eat. All themes are linked to a leitmotif consisting of four notes taken from the title of the score. Through variations and transformations and a colorful orchestration, a cohesive discourse is developed. A firm commitment to the lyrical and the epic.

Nottuln is a festival overture that was created for the wind orchestra of the same-named community. The repeatedly recurring fanfare combines a G major and a G minor subject simultaneously, which results in a rather exotic feeling. It is complemented by an evolving majestic theme, which is only fully harmonized by the trumpets at the last appearance and thereby colored by sparkling woodwinds and pulsive drums.

DUNKiRK
Dunkirk is a French city that served as a backdrop for the Allied military operation between May and June 1940. Known as Operation Dynamo, it consisted of the evacuation of Allied troops that had been encircled by the Nazi German army during the Battle of Dunkirk in full invasion of France. Almost the entire British Expeditionary Force, part of the Belgian army and three units of the French army had to evacuate the beaches and the port of Dunkirk before the German offensive. In spite of the bombings and the cornered by the German military, they were able to rescue more than 300, 000 soldiers. José Alberto Pina has tried to reflect the most dramatic moments of this operation. The composition is divided into small sections. It begins with ''The Prologue'' where the main theme of Dunkirk appears, followed by ''The mole, the beach'', where the long wait was taking over the soldiers. In ''The bombers'' you can hear how little by little these planes were getting closer to take a nosedive and destroy the lives of the soldiers. ''The Dunkirk Spirit'' is a term in the British press that refers to the solidarity of the British people as they played a fundamental role, using small boats to get close to the beach and help with the transfer of soldiers. ''The Failed Evacuation'' is related to how the soldiers try to survive while trying to climb the big ships, but the bombers end up sinking without the possibility of surviving. In ''The Hymn'', the melody of the beginning of the work is listening again on the trumpet, now developed throughout the orchestra and with great lyricism and nobility to finish with ''The Successful Evacuation'', where the full orchestra along with the drums will put a spectacular ending to this fantastic composition by José Alberto Pina.

Inspired by the legend of The Bermuda Triangle, José Alberto Pina tells us in this symphonic poem other less well-known legends of the Bermuda Island as well. In particular, we refer to a legend of love that is set on the beautiful sandy beaches surrounded by crystal clear water. It tells that couples who kiss under the Moonshine will be assured of good fortune and happiness. All these elements, masterfully assembled in this wonderful composition, take us on a 20 minutes journey around the mysterious waters of Bermuda. Enjoy the idyllic setting of this paradise.

'No More Gravity in Munich' focuses on exploring the timbre of the wind orchestra medium. With its emphasis on air sounds, it colourfully lifts the music off the ground. The title was inspired by a performance of a street dancer with a football in Munich.

March to Mars
The concert march March to Mars was written for a composition-contest of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corportation (EBU). This spectacular work was composed by Julius Steffaro, a pen-name of Jan Stoeckart, who also employs several other pweudonyms: Jack Trombey, Petr Milray and Willy Faust. In this way he has been able to add a large number of works for windband to his name. March to Mars has been elaborated and scored by Johan de Meij, who also did the arrangements for windband of Honky Tonk Ragtime and Cake Walk Phantasy from this composer.

Dance of the Clowns
After the overwhelming success of his 'Second Symphony' Pjotr Tschaikowsky (Votkinsk 1840 - Saint-Petersburg 1893) got a request of the Imperial Theatre in Moscow early in 1873 to compose the stage music to the play 'Snegourotchka' (translated as 'The Snow Maiden', 'Snow White' or 'Snowflakes') which was to be written by Alexander Ostrovski, the greatest Russian playwright of that period. The wage of 350 rubles was particularly welcome to the young composer who completed the work in only three weeks time (between the middle of March and the 6th of April) before Ostrovsky finished his libretto. The first performance was given at the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre on 23rd May, 1873 was very successful and since then the work remained on the Russian orchestral repertoire as a concert suite. The suite consists of 19 parts that incorporate twelve authentic Russian folksongs. The 'Dance of the Jesters' (sometimes called 'Dance of the Buffoons') is number 13 and appears in Act 3 as part of the carnival music; it suggests the joyful atmosphere of popular festivals.

The company was founded in 1933 by Pieter Jan Molenaar under the name Molenaar’s Muziekhandel. In the 1970s, his sons Jan and Bob joined the growing company. The name was changed to Molenaar’s Muziekcentrale, and later to Molenaar Edition BV.
