This song began with Mahan writing a chord progression on his acoustic guitar in hopes of doing something different than his usual punk influenced raucous experimentation. He shared it with Josh and asked if he'd add some vocals. So Josh came up with the lyrics, vocal melodies, and harmonies. Then Mahan encouraged him to add more parts, so Josh also laid down a piano, mandolin, and bass part to go with it. At that point, it was sounding like a much bigger production than what either of them had accounted for.
That's when Josh got the rest of the Eclectic Collective involved. First in was Ken, who added his awesome drums to the mix. Josh and Ken went back and forth a couple of times, as they usually do when trying to dial in the rhythm section. Tez jumped in next with his dynamic electric guitar solo at the end. Then, Mark added the cool, proggy mellotron strings, too, as well as did some expert editing. At this point, it sounded so big that Josh decided to include some additional synth strings you hear throughout, too.
Once it was in the can, we turned it over to Stephen who not only mixed it brilliantly, but also added a trippy banjo you can hear in the second to last section.
We had so much fun recording this, in no small part because Mahan is such a brilliant and desirable collaborator. He really set us up with some magic, and we ran with it. All of his music is exciting and worth a listen on his page. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

I so wanted to title this episode "JOHN ELDREDGE TAKES US ON A MAGICAL MYSTICAL MISFIT TOUR..."
But it was a little long. Not to mention way too alliterative. 
And I also didn't want to scare you off. 

Because the truth is, being a Mystic is not about being "magical".
And it's also not about "wild woowoo, ecstatic visions or something" (that's a direct quote by JE, btw). 

So what IS it about then?

Well, let's start with his (and by his I mean NY Times best-selling author and president of Wild at Heart Ministry's) newly released MUST READ book "Experience Jesus. Really." Cause the title kind of says everything.  

It's about the reality that experiencing the healing, joyful, playful, life-giving, restorative. wonder-filled presence of the living God (aka Jesus, just to keep us all on the same page) is available to ANYONE who wants it. Not just the few and the proud.  But you.  Me.  Anyone really, who's willing to seek it, and make space for it, in our ordinary, every day lives.  

Cause who wouldn't want that?  

And then we talk about the how.  How does one actually make space for these types of encounters in one's ordinary, every day life?  

That, my Misfit Friends, is what this podcast is about!

Plus, we play a fantastic round of NAME THAT MYSTIC... Because what other Stupid Game would do for such a time as this?

NY is where you could really make a name of yourself.

"The Talk" is always some headline.

But the chance to be famous in NY is also a chance to be infamous.

The serial killer on the loose, not yet straightened out by the force of the law, the police,

the detectives.

And in this HIT-SHOW on HBO we find three unlikelyl friends drawn together around a case of a killer on the loose, trying to frame them, - all the while they are making a PodCast about the killer on the loose, trying to frame them, but ignoring that tiopic almost altogether because its so obvious its NOT them even though its OBVIOUS to the PUBLIC in THE SHOW that the three ARE in FACT cold blooded murdererers.

But things go by, they get closer as friends, and in the meantime, we get a closer look at all the wannabe's of the city. The has-been's or washed-out's or the wanna be HEARD AND SEEN by the city's massive stoppe scope. We even get a "Hallo darkness, my ild friend, i come to talk with u again"-hybrid between soloing and yodeling which turns into a city-wide call for help as the city-wide blackout turns their city into a chaos of WHAT DO I HAVE TO SURVIVE WITH ME RIGHT NOW AND WIHAT CAN I GET ThAt NOBODOY ELSE CAN or even WHAT CAN I GET THAT EVERYONE NEEDDS AT THE SAME TIME NOW FrOM THE ONE PEARSON EVERYONE ELSE IS ASKING THE SAME QUESTION. 'cause without elvctricity........the fine line between civilization and chaos and despair.........u run the risk of being ................wll, in this show's case, being framed as THE KILLER.

End of season one EVERYONE COULD BE thE KILLER, AND WE DO FIIIIIIIIINALLLLLLY , AFTER TWENTY (sorry - 10) EPISODES OF HARDCORE SILLYNESS AROUND SUCH AN INTERESTINGLY TENTALICINGLY HORRIFIC SUBJECT, --- we do find the real kiklller.

Who wasn't even someone SPEICAL. 
Just someone NORMAL being MISERAVLE like EVERYONE ELSE.
And she even says that's a safe assumption.

Season two comes and in enters meryl streep.

Until this point we've had Steve Martin, Selene Gomez, and -Martin Short-. And Selena was the one who solved it, and even faced the killer with no fear at all, just curiosity and realness, as her adorable character gets chased, stabs two people FOR REAL, MAYBE, gets framed, gets videofilmed by a fellow subwaye'r(who could be the killer) as she stabs one of those two people, fights an actual cop (who could also be the killer) in a boxing ring without loosing, standing her ground through all kinds of bullshit from a certain Liz Lemon as the notorious (could also be the  killer-) Cinda Canning, whose OWN TRENDING podcast-empire revolves around the tak9ing down real killers, but in a sleasy, manipulative way and whose ASSISTANT (caracter of the show, the actual killer) is the missing genius from Cinda's former podcast-revolution "ALL IS NOT OK IN OKLAHOMA", where she - BECKY - was the sole proprietor of the entire idea for that revolution AND actually WAS the MISSING GIRL whose sleasy Mayor-boss gets framed for being the source of BECKY's murder, as becky slides into the role of POPPY on CINDAS show!.....

PHEW!

season two, meryl streep enters and asks, as a humble mother, but as a stage-actor on a broadway show not witnessed by an audience, but by the now up and coming direcyor Martin Short's character who becomes entranced by her as she performs the humble notion that SHE as an ACTOR is a substitute for the child's REAL mother, and if she is asked - would u BE A  KILLER, if it were for the PROTECTION of one of her omaginary children.......to whicih she answers - in a heartbeat.

Zeanix is a producer that approaches electronic music differently. Originally from Seattle, now residing in Copenhagen. Each album and song explores a variety of genres under the electronic umbrella.

Early in Zeanix’s existence, it discovered music making software that allowed it to produce electronic music. Simultaneously, Zeanix was the singer and occasional bass player for a small, local metal band.

Spending years producing auditory beauty and chaos, Zeanix officially released its first album, ODDiO, on December 13th, 2019. At that time, it was merely an egg, attempting to break out of its shell. With ODDiO REMiX, Zeanix began breaking out of its shell to recruit other artists to remix some song.

Fully emerging with the release of Square^2 (pronounced Square Squared) on August 28th in 2024, Zeanix reached out to Jason Charles Miller, Ariana Celaeno, Honey-B-Sweet, Maya Miko, 9Eleven, Yona Marie and Tora Hedges to help tell the story of a fun and adventurous rave that turned to tragedy through a friend’s passing. The album leans heavily on the concept of 4s, color, light and dark, exploration, love, loss and recovery.
