Continuing our series "Why did Jesus say that?" Steve Chalke looks at what Jesus said about divorce and marriage, it seems simple but he explores the context and the religious debate that was happening at the time. The implications of what Jesus said includes us all.

Why did Jesus say that? Part Three: About divorce & marriage

I was beating my head against the wall, trying to write a song.
Looking for lyrics that said it all, but the words came out all wrong.
Should I write about love, should I write about death, should I write about my pickup truck?
Sometimes you got nothing to say, and it’s alright to say it.

Now, I’m of the opinion that words can have their place.
But the words don’t have to clobber you, or hit you in the face.
So, when the words aren’t coming, the music will suffice.

This podcast contains the weekly talks from Oasis Church Waterloo, from our ministers Nathan Jones and Rebekah Gibson, and the rest of the team.

In Jan 2022 armed with Ableton Live and a midi keyboard, I taught myself to write music. 

I have released some outcomes of a surprising creative journey.

My music explores the music of natural sounds and the fusion of musical tools from different traditions (western orchestral, electronic, ambient and pop).

As a life long writer of poetry and former winner of the Manchester Poetry Festival commission for Poetry to the Theatre,  I continue to work at integrating text with music and soundscapes. I have completed some initial explorations including, Pinging The Mast and Only For A Moment.

I am looking for a community of artists and an audience interested in similar ideas. As an experienced theatre maker (with credits for writing and directing) I would be happy to collaborate on soundscapes and soundtracks for Film, TV, theatre and dance.
