Back to generating a track well outside my own creative space with a symphonic metal song with a female operatic singer as well. Lyrics are my own while I took great pains to describe the music I wanted in detail. Thankfully, SUNO AI was up to the task. What do you think? Would "Catch Me" have made waves in the mid-1990s? Dong-In Danny Choi (b. 1998) is a versatile young Canadian composer. Writing for various mediums including large ensemble concert works, chamber music, solo works, music for films and TV, and more, his music reflects a mix of lush Romantic-inspired language, film techniques, contemporary music, and a cocktail of influences from other genres.

He has collaborated with various professional ensembles including the Standing Wave, Erato, Nu:BC Ensembles, the NYU Contemporary Ensemble, the Vancouver and Victoria Symphony Orchestras, the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra, and NYU Orchestra. He is also the winner of the 2019 Howard Cable Memorial Prize in Composition.

​Largely self-taught in composition, orchestration, and various instruments (piano/keys, clarinet, guitar, drums, saxophone, and cello) starting at age 10, he is fluent in many different genres. His flexibility in classical, choral, jazz, rock, funk, pop, and contemporary church music genres allows him a wide array and palette in his work. He completed his BMus '20 in Composition at the University of British Columbia, where he studied with Jocelyn Morlock, Keith Hamel, Stephen Chatman, Pat Carrabre, and Dorothy Chang, and his MM ‘23 in Screen Scoring at New York University, where he received the Alan Menken Scholarship and studied with Eric Hachikian, John Kaefer, and Catherine Joy.

Choi hopes to be a composer who can connect emotionally with fellow musicians and his audiences in accessible ways and genres including through mediums such as film scores.

At the cusp of sixty, as grandmother to two teenagers, I discovered that creativity has no expiration date!

Recently, I embarked on a brand new digital music creation journey using GarageBand. Little did I know that it would change my life. It wasn’t long before I discovered the endless possibilities that samples and loops offer for complex sonic landscapes. 

How Granny Got Her Groove Back was born.

Music has been a constant companion throughout my lifetime, serving as both inspiration and refuge. Decades of musical foundation—from high school band and choir participation to professional years as a dancer and performer, and years of playing piano—have made rhythm and melody integral to my artistic expression… and life in general.

Embracing experimentation across diverse musical styles, and exploring the intersection of classical musical training and modern digital artistry, I seek to create pieces that speak to both nostalgia and innovation.

Each composition represents a new adventure in sound design and musical storytelling. My work reflects the perspective of someone who understands that artistic expression grows richer with life experience, combining traditional musical knowledge with contemporary production techniques.

This musical journey represents not just a creative outlet, but a testament to the power of pursuing artistic dreams at any stage of life.
