South African producer, KaySoul, shares a dreamy cut of deep house goodness which features the input of instrumentalists from all across the globe.
 
What is Blackness? EP is all about melody and groove - two things to which Johannesburg resident, KaySoul, is well accustomed. The stripped-back opener ‘That Blackness’ gets things off to a soulful start with a melody swaying gently over minimal percussion and funk-adjacent lower ends. Next up, Colombia-born, Brazil-based musician, Gustavo Martinez, steps up to offer his expertise on ‘Africanus’: a more meditative take on deep house with melancholic cries of a saxophone and maracas which lend the track a full-bodied swing. A pulsing kick drum provides the driving propulsion to ‘10 Ways’: a joyous track which drafts in French pianist, Steve Faets for melody duties. Bringing the EP to a close is the final artist to feature, fellow Johannesburg resident Kurtx, who steps in for the super cool, synth-driven ‘East Meets South’ before the hollow-sounding percussion and and looped vocals ‘Yak’ leave things on a blissful, enchanted note.

With Matthias Meyer enjoying a fantastic year, the in-demand Berlin-based Producer & DJ revisits the debut release on his Strangely Enough label, with emotional and powerful remixes from acclaimed producers and friends Guy Mantzur & Tamir Regev, Amine K, Urmet K, and Forty Cats, released together on 29 July. 
 
Each of the producers have added their own special touch to the ‘Strangely Enough’ remixes to ensure an exciting variety of updates which are perfect for this summer’s busy festival and club season. From the Guy Mantzur and Tamir Regev’s poignant peak-time reworking, to Amine K’s two deeper, yet magical remixes. Urmet K delivers a stirring update ideal for sunset sets, whilst Forty Cats takes her version into atmospheric and progressive house territory. 
 
Matthias Meyer said: “’Strangely Enough’ is an important track for me and the reason I started the label. Whilst everybody loved it, it didn’t fit on any labels. I wanted to have some new, playable versions for this summer. Guy Mantzur is one of my favourites and he really transformed it into an emotional banger. Amine K has been a good friend for around 10 years and his version is less straight, but has some wicked melodies. Urmet made a nice, deep and soft All Day I Dream kind of version. Forty Cats’s update is also really nice. It has more of a proggy vibe, which I like to play out too.”
 
Matthias Meyer’s debut label release, ‘Strangely Enough’, was released in Spring 2021 and included support from RÜFÜS DU SOL, Solomun, Sasha, Adriatique, Rampa, and James Grant. Meyer released ‘The Choir’ EP on Strangely Enough in early 2022 which showcased his trademark diverse and eclectic sound, whilst brimming full of emotion and energy. This was backed by Matthias Meyer touring worldwide, atpacked venues.

The song is based on a modern day romance/relationship gone wrong, - it's basically a narrative of a girl going through the motions of courtship. I wanted to create something cheeky and very honest. I know that lots of ladies can identify with the whole notion of a fling gone wrong.

Thato Mofolo better known as "Tahir Jones" was born in the early 90's in a township called Kanana in Klerksdorp. He's interest for music started when he was asked to be part of a church choir,where he learned basics for instruments such as Piano,Bass and Drums. But later on after realising he's passion was for House Music,he then started producing from the age of 17. In 2009 he moved to Johannesburg where he met Samkelo Mdolomba(Samthing Soweto) who acted as a mentor to his singing and his music as a whole. The same year,Tahir did a song with Jeoking which received overwhelming love from alot of other known producers. In 2011 Tahir joined a Deep House crew called Blaq Sons and through Blaq Sons he has worked with alot of major Producers. Ever since his music career started,he has worked with the likes of Sculptured Music, Mash, Soultronixx, Luudrumma,  Ehmi,  Imaginery Friends, Tafi, Fezz, Syclonic,the list goes on. Tahir's production style has been inspired by likes of Forteba,Scott Diaz,Mac Dee,Vandal M and so on.
