We're already testing the floors and Cromby (@cromby) has kneaded us a mix from the finest of his record bags. The crowd favorite will be playing on THE TANGLE floor, one of our new floors, in January. SMUT Press is delighted to present our 25th mix by the incredible Mercorn.  A deep love of hard house, prog and trance form the backbone of her sound, where these styles fuelled Ireland throughout its formative 90’s rave heyday, Mercorn’s sound is characterised by the soaring basslines and giddy snare rolls from that era and her careful selection always cultivates an unmatched fizzing, brimming energy. Offsetting the brisk winter days this mix was influenced by the sound of hot sexy summer and captures her signature euphoric energy. Expect deep percussive riffs and fab vocals, this is one that will keep you coming back for more! 

Mercorn is a Dublin-based dj and a lifetime member of the rave. She trades exclusively in dancefloor transcendence who embodies the psychedelic lifeblood of Irish rave history through her joyous selections, vivacious spirit and also as a member of collectives Tender and Skin&Blister.  Over the last few years her rise has been steadily building with notable attention around the UK and Europe from some of London’s most celebrated queer parties such as Adonis at The Cause, Big Dyke Energy at Venue MOT and Fast & Bi-Furious at Dalston Superstore while also at home in some of Ireland’s best clubs such as Yamamori Tengu, Wigwam, Index. Mixes for Haŵs and Proxima further her impressive cause. Aside from djing, Mercorn is an active community builder in her hometown of Dublin. This is most prevalent in her membership of collectives Skin&Blister and Tender. Both collectives have been instrumental in diversifying Ireland’s music landscape in both clubs and at festivals.  She is also a pioneering independent designer with her MNW Design business, individually handcrafting each item of clothing she sells.

025 - MERCORN

@sedefadasi's style is impossible to pin down. Embarking on her sonic journey, she fearlessly navigates her craft through a multifaceted universe of rhythms and genres, captivating dance floors with her everlasting groove and electrifying embrace. The best place to experience this rollercoaster is her own monthly HAMAM party at City club in Augsburg where she has invited plenty of international guests to join her. The Turkey-born, Germany-based artist is also a resident at Blitz Music Club and is set to join us at Dekmantel Selectors later in the summer, but first comes this week's podcast. 

It launches in seductive fashion with the moonlit deep house of Chicagoan Ben 'Cosmo' D then cruises through smooth but punchy grooves that stay low and bring hints of old-school cool in the basslines, stabs and drum breaks. Adasi's shift through the gears is almost imperceptible here as the pace quickens and the drums grow more physical. That is a testament to not only her smart selections but also to her ability to thread together these sounds quite so seamlessly.

About the mix: Recording from my first gig of the year at Nowadays! This gig was so special in so many levels; I felt a surge of excitement and nervousness coursing through me.

From the perfect booth to the sweaty dance floor and a crowd that is there for the right reasons - make this space so magical. And so it felt in the same way to play for the first time there. Atmosphere was palpable and the hours flew away, they melted in sweatiness, connection and transformation thru music.
