Rain and thunder

 In total I made a 40 minute recording of which this is about 7:15 of the best part. Made using a Sound Devices 702 and two Audio Technica AT3032 mics in a binaural arrangement.

Tropical Thunderstorm with heavy rain on jungle canopy

Here is a very close lightning strike I recorded this afternoon, July 20, 2012. A very powerful storm front moved in with thunder, strong winds and heavy rain. Just after the wind calmed down this lightning strike happened. Not even a half second between the flash of light and the sound. Recorded at 24-bit 96K with a Sennheiser MKH-8400ST in XY. The Rycote was soaked from the blowing rain even though it was under shelter from my roof. I live for this kind of stuff! Enjoy! -Frank
