  This is a remix that Tez did of a song JJ wrote, and we released a couple weeks ago. He extracted the coda, expanded it, and mixed an ambient groove into it. Basically, he took the sweetest part of the fruit and made a salad with it. Everyone is doing the same thing they were a couple weeks ago, except this time what you're hearing has gone through the filter of Tez's brain. It sounds like almost a completely different song now, and a really fun ride at that. Tez is into ambient music, so this touches on that proclivity, too. When all heard it on Christmas day, we decided immediately that we wanted to share it with all of you. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it, and Tez enjoyed crafting it into something new.

Updated 2/7/19 - So ends another HOFA competition and another uneventful milestone on the highway.  Another round of tough competition with % or two here or there determining victors.  The industry isn't a kind one...and until you have your name on a platinum they don't hand out participation trophies.. hahah  So buck up my fellow clouders and high spirits.. for we dared to ride into the unknown...next year we shall have them.  Who ever you eight people are who clicked a like for me on the HOFA site I owe you one.

Took the day off yesterday for a couple of music buis type classes on rights and licensing.  Once I finished, took a look at my to do list and saw the HOFA competition.  This years track, Maryam, is a fantastically cool piece of work, with a great arrangement and stellar performances.  

On the engineering side pretty flawless recordings to work with.   I tried to keep the jazz feel alive. I got the mix to a place where I was feeling it, then quickly pushed into mastering.  Went the all analog route for mastering with multiple eq and compressors and a smidge of limiting.  

If you have some time would highly recommend trying the competition out. I spent some time listening, the competition is going to be tough this year.. a lot of heavy hitters. But what I can say without a doubt is,  you will learn something from the project.  These have provided me a eureka moment with every competition. 

Mine on this one was with reverb..some of the room tracks were a bit tacky when stitched in for my taste.  So I rebuilt them from scratch.... its the first competition where I was like hmmm... I might be able to get a cleaner result by doing it my way...that is a huge milestone to pass.
  
Finally one of the reasons to enter is that they will typically send out a coupon as a thank you for coming to the party.  Used mine to pickup the system and more specifically Algoverb.  IMHO probably one of the best plug in reverbs out there.  

If you go tell em Icarus says hello... haha  Don't worry that puzzled look you get,  while they shrug their shoulders and look around... its all part of the act!  :)

Slogging it out my home studio and trying to understand the deep sorcery that is Music Recording, Mixing, Mastering.    Jesus if someone had told me how damn complicated the topic was... I might have reconsidered.   

I keep it real, listen to your music and comment.  Be supportive of myself and others and I have your back.  I stay out of the rampant game playing and focus on finding real people making music. Is that you? If so pull up a chair and PM me.

Hello Soundcloud, thanks for the Listens, Likes and Support. Im from Melbourne Australia, I have been playing guitar for many years now and played in two bands during the 80's & 90's (STOLEN CAR original) & (STORM cover),both bands never released any material. Since 2010 i have been writing songs and tunes and recording them in my music room (3rd Bedroom), i play Guitar, Bass, Keys, BFD2 Drums(programmed)and Vocals on all of my songs which i class as Demo's, I love all types of music but Hard Rock, Rock to Alternative appeals to me most.
