The Ellipse Records project was born out of two common goals with Houseum Records: sharing music and putting forward promising artists. This sub-label highlights a new music library that oscillates between electro, breakbeat and ambient. The releases will combine exploration and texture through the symbiosis between artistic covers and sounds.

Rising contemporary electronica musician Holo will be releasing his new In Limbo EP via Houseum’s sub-label Ellipse Records on the 11 thof March. The Australian producer burst onto the scene in 2019 after seeing his first track 'Atlas' uploaded on the Houseum YouTube channel and after releasing his debut EP of the same name, with house music heavyweight UK label Shall Not Fade’s sub-label Lost Palms. The EP featured the deep house classic ‘In My Dreams’ that earned over 2 million streams on Houseum channel.

Hugo Horwood (Holo himself) is originally from Canberra and is currently living in Melbourne, Australia. His music draws from unexpected genres, including pop, classic rock, acid and 90s hip hop, to create a sound that is truly his own.

‘Bleu’ is the first introduction into the kaleidoscopic EP that will subvert your expectations from the get-go. With a gradual start, the listener is rewarded for taking the extra time to lean back into the song and explore the multilayered tones of chilled vibes and an inescapable otherworldly realm. The first hint at the artist’s vocal talents, the single leaves the listener begging for more.

Speaking of the single, Holo tells us: “I chose this track’s title as a nod to Bicep’s “Glue” - an inspiration for the track’s sound - but also because in my mind this track’s colour was a light blue. Sometimes I get that when making music - a really strong mental image, whether it be a colour, or a scene. This is the first Holo track I’ve sung on too, with that Tame Impala-style vocal hook “Tomorrow” in the final minute. I love singing, and it’s something I explore a lot more on another record I'll be releasing soon.”

New Zealander via Berlin Philippa is a producer and DJ whose passion for house music, tireless commitment to her craft and ear for what makes a dance floor tick is slowly and surely starting to pay off. Having been a prominent DJ and promoter back in New Zealand she relocated to the European mecca of electronic music in 2013, where she embraced not only Berlin’s nightlife but also its rich heritage of synthesizers, samplers, and sound design. She immersed herself in a new world which saw her lecturing at an institute of arts and technology by day and creating beautiful and unique house music by night. Launching At Peace Music in 2019 led to her music falling on the ears of Jimpster who was suitably impressed and eager to hear more.

Cut to 2022 and we’re proud to present ‘There’s A Ghost In My Synthesizer’, an EP which showcases Philippa’s musicality and production nous across 4 tracks which takes in funk-infused, rolling grooves, blissful, string-heavy atmospherics and crunchy disco beats.  On the title track Philippa goes heavy on the strings and horns bringing some welcome Philly Soul vibes to a track which is guaranteed to bring something special to the party.  ‘I Guess I Have Boy’ puts a live bass line front and centre whilst sweeping pads keep things deep and warm. The up-tempo funked up groove of ‘Dimes’ follows, giving us a little hint of Philippa’s love of jacking Chicago house but with her own unique twist with that live, jazzy feel which she does so well. Closing out the EP ‘Slow It Down’ brings a smooth, soulful touch to the release with lush strings and vocal from Mo Van Zandt.

Vintage 70's disco with 21st century flair; we're thrilled to welcome Mishell Ivon back to The Disco Express, alongside talented multi-instrumentalist and LA based producer, Sequenceprogram.

Inspired by the likes of Donna Summer, Cerrone, Dianna Ross, Yvonne Gage and Kiki Gyan, Shane and Mishell have endeavoured to capture that old school sound.

Bouncing ideas from Germany to LA, the EP The Discothèque EP is self affirming and feel-good. Made using live sax, percussion, Juno 106 synth, guitar and bass its an original release with authentic and organic qualities.

A release that wouldn't sound out of place in 70s/80s US, this excellent original boogie outing features two club focussed remixes by North Londoner Pete Maxey and Austin based Boogietraxx.

PREMIERE: Mishell Ivon & Sequenceprogram - The Discothèque (Boogietraxx Remix)

Keeping things nice and sleazy Parisian producer Simon Says covers English synth-pop band Blancmange's 1982 album track 'Feel Me'. Transforming the song into the kind of outrageously funky slice new wave disco that could have sat proudly on an old Ze Records compilation its low slung groove is now sure to soundtrack as many illicit 'Cinq a Sept' assignations as it is sweaty dancefloor moments. Especial presents a 2 EP live concept collaboration with Berlin's Giraffi Dog. With live tours cancelled due the on-going changing world, the idea of bringing their live set to vinyl - an opera for your innerspace, while constrained from outerspace - was born.

Setting up Doom Chakra Tapes with DJ Deflektorschild in 2016, Max Webber's project first released the L'Existence Du Reve cassette album as a blueprint for the Giraffi Dog sound, with some tracks appearing on the acclaimed vinyl debut for Aiwo Recs, before a split 7" for the WARNING label series followed. 

Teaming up with friend Max Heesen (Dessous, Poker Flat) to take the project live, their backgrounds in punk and hip-hop shine in their take on breakbeat driven club culture. 

Recording live in the studio, as a different state of meditation, MCPs trigger drum machines, the duality of live synth and vocoder, while tape machines, reverb and FX looped, twisted and filtered for an inter-mind festival 

Cut as a continuous mix, tracks like Concorida, Jam X and Multiverse, are a manifestation of their sets dropped from small basements in Berlin to fields in the outskirts of Paris, this first EP acts as a hypothesis for the parallel, the other, the alternate, the infinite.
