The Leftover Mix

Right ok, here we go: This is inspired by the Lexer edit of Boyce Avenue's cover of the original song 'Breakeven' by The Script, and uses instrumentals from the cover, vocals from the original, and my own synths. It also contains vocals from London Grammar's track 'Metal and Dust'. Confused? Me too. It's ok though, you can just listen instead of thinking about it.

The song "Dissonance" aims to shed light on the concept of "cognitive dissonance," which may be explained by holding onto two conflicting beliefs simultaneously. For instance, one may hold the belief that cheating is 'wrong,' whilst their actions speak otherwise. One may not be partaking in the physical act itself, but are emotionally disconnected from themselves and their relationships. This perpetual inner conflict traps us inside a state of 'limbo,' where we may struggle to find the essence of our own truths.

"Once Apart describes the state of being separated from one another. It´s not necessarily a place where you lose connection, it can even be something that gets you closer and everything you feel is floating, growing and waiting to become concrete again. The absence of the physical makes room for an inner connection. „My eyes are filled with your space“ is probably the main statement, meaning that once we´re apart we become one. „Once Apart“ has never been performed live on stage - I don´t know why, but it has always been a song that I just kept playing on the piano for myself. I think that it would particularly demand more of my emotional AND technical focus on stage and I didn´t feel ready for it until now. The song has evolved over the last 3 years and I´m glad it has found its way onto the record."
