Covid-19 and its consequences are keeping the whole world on alert. For more than a year now, we have been seeing new waves of outbreaks in several countries and regions of the world. In this sense, 500 million indigenous people, in urban or rural areas of the planet are also at risk because of their social vulnerability. The risk of indigenous genocide in the midst of the pandemic is dizzying and can have serious consequences since viruses and diseases of this type have contributed to reducing the world's indigenous population over the centuries.

Thus, several podcast channels have joined forces to celebrate 'International Indigenous Peoples' Day'. This with a focus on donations for indigenous peoples affected by Covid-19 in Brazil led and managed by 'United for a Living Amazon', a volunteer movement made up of citizens and non-governmental organizations that have been working in the Amazon for decades, united for a common and urgent cause. Dalney Geovenazhi, Dj y productor cultural brasileño originario de Itaitu Chapada Diamantina-Ba, nos comparte a través de su proyecto Sala 60 Psychedelia parte de su investigación musical con la representación étnica e histórica, urbana y ancestral de determinadas costumbres y lugares, transmitiendo ideales de unificación y entendimiento a través de la música. 

Sus relatos se basan en sus raíces que datan de la música africana en su construcción, influencia y psicodelia que sonaba en los años 60s y 70s y que fungían como banda sonora de un movimiento de inmersión socio-politico donde la multiplicidad de la música y su ascendencia, hacían referencia a la conciencia ancestral ensalzando sus atribuciones espirituales.

➳ The bass is pumping, the strobes are flickering and the heavy sweat and gas from the smoke machine are filling up the room. It’s a quarter past 2 AM in Berlin and it feels like an eternity since the evening began. 

➳ A familiar and yet nervous excitement starts to travel from his head deep into his chest. A cloud of anxiety sits above him, together with the presence of an intense feeling of flight. He knows he can’t run. This is his chance to lighten up the room as he had always dreamed of doing, to take the souls in the room on a journey they could possibly never forget. 

➳ A sudden flashback brings him back to the time when he felt he had a clear vision on how his music needed to sound like. It needed to have a certain speed, a certain groove and bring a certain energy into the room. The conviction that he was on the right path was so strong that he thought there could be no other way. Little did he know. 

➳ As time went by, the signs began to show that something else was needed: a new approach, a new vision, a new energy. He believed the time had come to explore other paths and lighten the way for them.

➳ In the end it’s always a matter of timing, setting, and believing in yourself. There is a time and place for everything, but even in that everything there is a time and place for nothing. It’s about flexibility, malleability, and the ability to tap into your own sensitivity. To realize where and who are you now and to shift the focus into where you want to go and who do you want to be. 

➳ This was the moment where he went beyond his very own perception, where the past and present merged into each other, making way for the future. And just like that, in the blink of an eye he found himself back in the middle of the crowd, surrounded by sweat, smoke and the music blasting through the speakers. Looking around one last time, focusing on each individual part of the space he was in, he realised that it was time to bring forth a new energy.
