Supermassive starfield is the 4th ambient EP by Relief, The album is about stargazing and the twinkling of starlight that we see here on earth millions of miles away. Each song is dedicated to a star you can see at night and the names are the Arabic names of those stars that you can google to find the position of those stars in the sky.

The Sustain Series project continues with its second volume, 24 recycled forms created from old and unused material. Since the release of Volume 1 in November last year, more artists have come together to salvage, repurpose, restore and deconstruct each other’s pieces, or collaborate on a particular idea. What results is a growing variety of approaches and outputs, from minor embellishments to full disfigurement.

Volume 2 moves thematically, as if in four chapters, from the expressive openers, through enchanting natural-sounding pieces, before opening up to more ethereal expanses, and finally darker and more thoughtful ones. As it does, visions emerge of our natural world - its power, its beauty and its vulnerability.

On Friday October 15th I was fortunate enough to be invited by The Detroit I Love / Spot Lite Detroit to curate and perform an ambient experience on their alley. In addition to newly composed mixes and original video projections, I DJed for just over four hours in one of Spot Lite's unique concrete patio caves (the first ever performance in this part of the venue!).  For the set, I mixed a number of new ambient favorites into classic chill out and IDM, all while mixing in a constant stream of field recordings and found sounds. This mix represents the first hour of that set - headphones recommended. Special thanks to Steven Reaume, Tyler Yglesias, Mike (the Agent X) Clark, DJ Holographic, Audio Rescue Team, and Spot Lite Detroit.

The full, raw audio from a recent live stream improvisation by Andy from Digitonal.

Regular Friday night sessions on twitch.tv/andydigitonal.  In which Andy hooks all his boxes up and sees what happens.

The tracks are quite long as they develop slowly, much in the manner of how I write a lot of music actually. Sometimes they are messy and experimental, sometimes they form into tunes. This one is one of the more tuneful ones so I thought I'd make it publicly available for once.
