As a Nigerian-American kid growing up in Inglewood, California wasn't easy. I was often referred to as "Shadooky" 😡 (from my first name Chibuike meaning God is My Power) or "African Booty Scratcher." For years I despised my culture because of it, as kids we knew no better 😞. As I grew older I began to see the fineness and the beauty of my culture, but most importantly of myself. Being Nigerian is what makes me different, it's what makes me special, it's what makes me an #OriginalSomebody. Growing up in America helped strengthen me, humble me, Love myself, and love others.
