Originally released by Musical Freedom, the instrumental edit of 19-year-old Oliver Heldens’ deep house smash ‘Gecko’ has become a staple in club sets for 2014, peaking at #2 in the Beatport chart and garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Zane Lowe. 

The latest edit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, written and vocalled by Becky Hill during a late night recording session with MNEK, is being released by Parlophone’s vital new dance imprint FFRR. Initially written for another vocalist, Becky’s towering vocal on Gecko’s chorus was deemed the perfect fit and has already been coined the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Zane Lowe.

Golden Coast - Break My Fall (Rainer + Grimm Remix)

For fun I made a new track using the amazing funky and catchy melody from Can't Stop Playing (2005) by Dr Kucho! & Gregor Salto and played it in my sets. It got such great responses and Spinnin' Records also loved it! Later I finished it with @GregorSalto himself and now it will be released 29th of august on @SpinninRecords :)

My long time buddy @realDJPAIGE brought this idea up to me one day and I couldn't resist.  Being an 80's baby and having older siblings this track was a staple in my house .

Below you'll find some fun facts about some of the lyrics to "Land Down Under" which before I did some research made no sense to me.

FUN FACTS:

Fried out Kombi : a broken-down van.  It came from the VW Kombivan which was very popular in the '60s and early '70s, especially with surfers and hippies.

Head full of Zombie : Zombie was a particularly strong batch of marijuana which was floating around Australia for a long time. People called it "Zombie Grass."

Vegemite Sandwich : Vegemite is a fermented yeast spread that is pretty much a national institution in Australia. 

Regarding the lyrics, "Where beer does flow, and men chunder..." Chunder is Aussie slang meaning to vomit.

Quickie from us: "So its really great when coincidences and fate find each other, because that is what happened… We absolutely were in love with this summer anthem by smallpools, it reeked of fresh cut grass and the afternoon sun... So when their ppl reached out to us about doing a remix it was the easiest decision ever. We can't say it wasn't a challenge though with such a strong vocal, but we really wanted to pin it up against the classic 'house music pluck' we have been hearing so much of, but use it in a vain that felt a bit different but still large, but finding that union was tough in the sense the two had to warm up to each other rather than clash... but in the end we think we found this great atmosphere for the song to exist."
