Mefjus' forthcoming album Emulation is chock-full of absolutely fucking mental ruminations on the neurofunk style, and we've got the premiere of "Surrounded," a brutal bass-wave of a tune that at once batters your senses with intensity, complexity, and undeniable toe-tappin' groove.

As we draw closer to the end of the year Viper Recordings shows no sign of slowing down with this devastating double A side from Slovenian DnB maestro Smooth.

Leading the charge is WTF, the intro maybe subtle but that doesn’t last long. Drawing from his heavyweight arsenal, Luka Per aka Smooth, gets down to business with no time to waste.  Thundering kicks and tidal waves of bass roll out in full force causing as much dance floor damage it can in it’s wake. 

Revenge shows an equally unparalleled relentlessness towards smashing up the dance. Calling for an all out assault in the game of revenge, this beast of a track takes no prisoners as it cascades through pounding energy and filthy bass notes wiping everything its path.

Securing Radio 1 airplay and A-list deejay support right off the bat, the Technique Recordings bosses are back with a brand new evolution.

A panoramic landscape of swirling pads and reverberant percussion sets the scene as we step inside Drumsound & Bassline Smith's 'Nexus'. Nostalgic synthwave chords and half-time drums build towards what we know is going to be a powerhouse drop. The “bass” vocal sample is the last-second warning before the savagery that ensues.

Sparse, snapping drums provide the framework for lethally snaking bass tones, the long evolving notes punctuated by vicious stabs. This is a heavyweight deejay weapon for sure, but there's even more to come. Watch for that atmospheric switch-up where Drumsound & Bassline Smith twist the elements into a whole new vibe. More than meets the eye.

Then we have 'Power of the Future'. Anticipation and tension build right from the off, with grit in the low-end balanced by off-kilter chords and twisted samples. And then the huge, pitch-bending synth that leads us to the drop adds another note of madness. Drumsound & Bassline Smith are doing the thing different on this one.

The addictive bubbling bass, with modulating mid-range filth balancing the chest-rattling sub, is going to hit dancefloors hard. As Drumsound & Bassline Smith keep things building, adding expertly crafted layers of break to their drums, this track holds a balance between stepper and roller, delivering both simultaneously. So, this is going to find a home in the sets of creative deejays everywhere.

You can hear references to what's gone before in the sound design and the sample selection, but this is unmistakeably modernist music. Drumsound & Bassline Smith have laid out two tracks that the pigeon-holers might struggle with, but which capture the vibe of contemporary DnB dancefloors perfectly.

Jay Faleye otherwise known as Tantrum Desire, is an electronic producer/DJ from London, UK. His love and passion for Drum & Bass music escalated since the early 2000s and has remained strong ever since.

In late 2006, Tantrum Desire released tracks such as “Dreamscape” on Heavyweight Records. His music attracted many peers which followed onto DJ’ing at residential clubs in London, also receiving air time support from Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra. By late 2007, he was then picked up by Drumsound & Basslinesmith and signed to their very own Technique Recordings. 

Since then, the Londoner has had many releases leading up to his successful worldwide anthem "Reach" in 2011. An explosive single hitting over a million views on YouTube, holding the Number #1 spot on Beatport for over a month and being one of the most supported singles in the Drum & Bass scene. This received great support from  Radio presenters and DJs such as Zane Lowe, Fearne Cotton, Fabio & Grooverider, Annie Mac, Pendulum, Andy C, Benga & Skream, Sub Focus plus more. 

Dividing his studio time, Tantrum Desire has been busy with his live shows throughout the years, touring in many cities across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. 
In addition to this he has affiliated with labels such as Universal Island Records, Ministry of Sound, 3beat, with also building a history in high demand remixes for likes of The Wanted, Laidback Luke, Rusko, Matrix & Futurebound, Wideboys, Utah Saints, the list goes on. 

In 2015, Tantrum Desire released his single "Oblivion" featuring vocals from Solah, selected as one of UKF’s Top tracks of the year and hitting over a million views with a Music Video on YouTube, filmed whilst Tantrum Desire performed in-front of 30,000 at “Rampage” in Belgium. The single was taken from his critically acclaimed debut album “Diversified” which was then released in the summer on 2015. The LP went in the Top 10 release charts on Beatport and was nominated “Best Album” at the Bass Music Awards in London which was sponsored by Sony. TD supported the album with international tours, performing at clubs and festivals such as Glastonbury, Beats For Love, Bassrush, EXIT Festival, Boomtown, EDC Las Vegas, Fabric London, The Avalon in Hollywood, Shambhala Festival in Canada, plus more. Moving on to 2016, Tantrum Desire was once again nominated at the Official “Drum & Bass Arena Awards” in London for “Best Remix” for DJ Frictions “Bring it Back” Ft. Stylo G. 

In 2019, Tantrum Desire released one of his biggest songs titled “Unleashed”, becoming one of the most rotated tracks in the Drum & Bass scene to this present day, whilst bringing in millions of streams on Spotify. Following this, Tantrum Desire continued to draw worldwide attention with many singles and a 2 part Album titled “The Flow”. In early 2024, TD then released his dancefloor anthem “Cluster” on UKF’s 15 year celebration album, shooting straight into Beatport’s Overall Top 100 chart.

The future is bright for the fact that Tantrum Desire has become one of the most exciting production outfits to date, with the fire to innovate and take things to the next level.
