If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

TANTRUM ZENTRUM's version of the 1827 original musical piece by Franz Schubert was produced by Steve Evans (Robert Plant, Goldfrapp, Siouxie Sioux) and recorded in November 2022.

Vaat Dafuq explains, "For our first single, we wanted something that people would find familiar, so the hunt for a cover version we could add our spin to commenced -and we certainly had no interest in recording a slowed-down version of something to ukulele to be used for a bank advert!"

The core trio kept going further and further back, looking for that elusive track until they heard Franz Schubert's Der Leiermannon the soundtrack of the 2008 Martin McDonagh-directed In Bruges.

Sabine de Rousseau states,"There is something about a freezing musician playing to an ambivalent audience that resonated with us for some reason."

Valhalla Schimmer adds, "We wanted to work with Steve on our first project because we knew he'd get us musically, and he works in Dolby Atmos. Atmos Music has a huge built-in dynamic range because of its cinematic background, and with Der Leiermann, we just went all in with Atmos, arranging the song right there in the studio. The result is a Teutonic Folk Goth Metal journey -something for everyone."

Der Leiermann is the first of three tracks recorded in both stereo and Dolby Atmos to be independently released by TANTRUM ZENTRUM from their session with Steve Evansand promises to get everyone on their feet -a future Christmas Number 1 or Eurovision entry?

Tantrum Zentrum is a British / North American post-punk band from London. Inspired by both early 70s German rock and late 70s New York no-wave bands, they deliver sonic dissonance and poppy hooks with great energy and style - like Killing Joke but on happy pills.

Tantrum Zentrum is an epic live band based in the UK whose known for writing short and shambly no-wave songs and playing them with European precision and grandeur. Fans say it’s as if Krautrock pioneers Neu! and Faust moved into a gothic apartment with no-wave experimentalists Sonic Youth, Glenn Branca and Theoretical Girls – they’re simply unforgettable.

Since forming, Tantrum Zentrum have been creating memorable live performances. Full of energy, humour and excellent musicianship, the band's live shows get everyone dancing. Without any gimmicks, the four musicians effortlessly share their joy of playing live with their audience, always creating genuine connections and a sense of community.

Tantrum Zentrum have recently finished recording three songs with Steve Evans (producer for Siouxie Sioux, Goldfrapp and Robert Plant) that will be released as singles throughout the remainder of the year. To support these releases, the band will be playing a number of club shows in the UK, as well as a German tour in the autumn.

Tantrum Zentrum was started by multi-instrumentalists Vaat Dafuq and Sabine de Rousseau as a post-punk Krautrock project. Soon after the formation, Sabine and Vaat were joined by Val Schimmer on bass guitar and Kur Putchnik on drums. With this solid and experienced rhythm section, Tantrum Zentrum grew into a powerful four-piece that fills any venue with dark but groovy, body moving sounds.

When it came to crafting the band’s sound, Vaat and Sabine chose guitars with a sort of Velvet Underground slacker-jangle inspired by no-wave. Then to incorporate their love of Krautrock (influenced more by Faust and Can than Kraftwerk), they made their synths analogue and wobbly and they rounded everything out with simple hypnotic drums played with Devo-esque precision.

As for lyrics, although Vaat usually sings in a few languages, the band’s dark, energetic tracks are performed in a way that you don’t have to understand the words to appreciate them and the melodies have a habit of sticking in your brain. Simply put, Tantrum Zentrum’s music and their live shows are an experience you don’t want to miss!
