That Escalated Slowly With Saygin

On the day of the winter solstice, Hekske (the little witch) had a vivid dream about her friends the wolves of the Gugu Peak, the enigmatic mountain in the Godeanu ridge which mysteriously disappears every now and then. She looked at Falke (the 10 year old witch apprentice) who was still sleeping underneath their cozy moss blanket … and smiling while sleeping. A few minutes later Falke woke up and enthusiastically told Hekske that she had a vivid dream about their friends the wolves of the Gugu Peak. Now that was strange. And the next nights it became even stranger as the witches kept on dreaming about the Carpathian wolves, every night in a different location and every night a bit closer to the witch’s forest, leaving Transylvania and passing by lake Balaton before crossing the snowy peaks of the Styrian Alps. Night after night, their collective dream became more and more vivid while Hekske and Falke snuggled close to each other under the warm moss blanket in the rainy and soggy winter forest. After passing through the Black Forest and crossing the River Rhine, the wolves ran day and night until they finally reached the Dender river, which they followed downstream while enduring the lashing rains and gale force winds. The normally gentle flow of the Dender river had transformed into a wild torrent which had flooded the entire valley.
That morning Hekske and Falke woke up very early as they sensed that their friends were now really close by. And just before sunrise, the girls heard the all-pervading howl of a wolf in the distance. The elated witches ran through the mud of the soggy woods, and encountered the wolves at the edge of the beech forest. They gave a long fluffy hug to all the ebullient wolves. When the initial euphoria had abated, the girls noticed how thin and emaciated the wolves were. They hadn’t eaten for a whole week. 
Hekske and Falke took the wolves straight to the nymph’s pond, where they all took a bath in the frigid water. Despite the cold, the water was really pleasant and they stayed for a really long time in the pool, playing with each other all the time. They hadn’t even noticed that meanwhile the rain had stopped. Finally, they decided to get out of the water. The winter sun had broken through the clouds and the witches and wolves dried their bodies in the soft sunlight. Miraculously, the wolves suddenly looked strong and well-fed again, and their fur was glistening and fluffy.
The Carpathians wolves stayed in the witch’s forest for over a week, while the temperatures plunged below zero and an immaculately white snow carpet covered the witch’s forest, creating an enchanted atmosphere. During the freezing cold nights, the wolves and the witches huddled together and kept each other warm. And every day, they took a collective bath in the nymph’s pond and every time the wolves came out of the water stronger and fiercer than the day before.
Finally, the wolves were strong enough and time had come to return to the Carpathians. Hekske and Falke gave one last hug to all their fluffy friends, promising to visit them back in Dacia next summer, on the slopes of the enigmatic Gugu Peak which mysteriously disappears every now and then …

New Year Special Witchtape | AZ EM

Hekske (the little witch) and Falke (the 10-year old witch apprentice) had been flying eastwards for 2 days and 2 nights. It was the very first time they flew in this direction, passing over the Tian Shan mountain range and the Gobi desert, after which they followed the mighty Jinsha River downstream, until they reached a range of hills with lush green meadows and forests. They were just wondering how long they still had to fly, when they saw a dragon flying in their direction. He had surely recognized that Falke was a dragon tamer, as he flew straight to her and indicated to follow him. It was a beautiful golden dragon with sparkling scubs of a kind which Falke had never seen before. Shortly afterwards they gently touched down in a clearing of a forest, where a young Chinese witch was waiting for them. She greeted her visitors with great kindness, although she was a bit reserved. Her long white and pink dress was truly beautiful and elegant. She introduced herself as Yǎqín, the protectress of the forest of the Jinsha River. She explained that it was her 14th birthday, which meant that a new 7-year long Qi cycle of her life was starting on that day. Her previous 7 year cycle was dedicated to contemplation and seclusion in the loving company of her faithful dragon Yìchén (who was purring happily while Falke was patting and hugging him). And during the new Qi cycle, she would meet the witches who were guarding the 7 other holy forests of Zhōngguó, and maybe she would even meet foreign witches. But she didn’t expect this to happen on the very first day of the new 7 year cycle.
Yǎqín first let her dusty guests take a refreshing bath in a quiet pond with lotus flowers. After the bath, she gave 2 hanfu dresses to Hekske and Falke, in exactly the same colors as her own dress.
Then she offered the girls a cup of herbal tea and lychees, after which she showed her visitors around her forest, which looked like more a park than a forest for Hekske and Falke. She explained that the forest contains 8 sections with 888 trees each. Despite its park-like appearance, the ecosystem was very rich with lots of rare species of birds flying around and singing from the stunningly beautiful pine trees. This place truly felt like a garden of Eden.
When the sun started to go down, Yǎqín invited her guests to her cabin in the middle of the forest. It was a beautiful simple hut, made from bamboo with a cane roof. There were stunning paper lanterns inside, which she lit with a floating spark from the palm of her hand (just like they light fires in Europe). That evening, Yǎqín prepared several magic potions, using a wide variety of spices and herbs, like Dang Shen (Codonopsis Root) and Huang Qi (Astragalus Root) which the Flemish witches had never tasted before. They were truly impressed when they heard that the witches’ community of Zhōngguó exists for over 2500 years, while in Flanders the history of witches only goes back 850 years.
Later that night, Yǎqín showed her magic wand to her guests. It was obviously a magic wand, as it would come to her hand when she stretched it out. But that was the only thing she could do with it, as it wouldn’t react to the magic spells she had been taught. Then Hekske and Falke smilingly took their own magic wands, and bit gently in it. Yǎqín looked very surprised when she saw her European guests biting in their magic wands. Hekske explained that this unlocks the power of the wand. Then Yǎqín hesitantly bit in the wood, and it started to glow immediately. And to her surprise, the magic wand was working perfectly now, responding to all the magic spells she knew, filling her heart with joy …
