Ryan Blackman (@farfromthesun) is a London-based DJ who has been active since the mid90s, playing records at clubs such as Final Frontier, Sabresonic, and most significantly LOST. Artists ranging from Aphex Twin and Autechre to Jeff Mills, Claude Young, and Jay Denham, among others, were an inspiring influence in his early years. Later on, he went on to promote his own event across Europe, allowing him to continue with his passion: play and collect electronic music. On this occasion, he presents a well-turned mix that offers different approaches to electro, eclectic, and perfectly blent. Enjoy it!

As a devotee of nature, Atoloi explores sound creating a mellow amalgam of layers using over-reverberated synths, field recordings, and self-created samples.
Not choosing the club-oriented way as a first calling, instead, his productions search for other depths, in which the listener can get lost while getting submerged by heavy-grained noises and evocative instrumental compositions.

Looking to create warm and energetic atmospheres, @toe_music likes to make you travel into a psychedelic world where music becomes a spirit of its own. She is the mother of the music and visual arts projects @ouroboros-crew and @ewo_collectif.

For this episode, she took inspiration from the Yacurunas, a mythological aquatic people of the Amazon basin living in beautiful underwater cities. The Yacurunas, found primarily in the oral traditions of indigenous tribes, are said to take many different forms, from hairy humans with an upturned head and deformed feet, to the famous Amazonian pink dolphins ... They are usually described as being shapeshifters, capable of taking human form to lure their victims into their clutches, be they fishermen, husbands, or young women... 
Despite the kidnappings, the Yacurunas are generally not considered to be evil. They are incredibly talented healers, and shamans often consult them for advice and remedies.

Chapter I

Passing by the river, you can hear some strange voices. They are appealing. Your fear is overtaken by curiosity. You remember you heard stories about this legend of the people of water, they are spirits protecting the water, they don’t like humans, you know they drown them into the depths of the water. But you can’t stop and you are walking toward these voices. and the more you approach the less you can hear them, maybe the voices are too deep into the water. So you wait patiently. And the more you look at the surface of the river, the more you are absorbed by it. Now your mind is completely hypnotized. You can see them, these beautiful and scary creatures, the Yacurunas, and you fall into the depths of the river.

Chapter II

Now that you are with them, there is no way out. Just accept and your body starts to move, turning into a watery dance. You realize that you can be part of them, just by letting go. They are accepting you the more you accept them, they teach you how to just go with the flow. Feel the vibrations of the water but also of the whole life who started from this world. You can now come back, they are allowing you to return to the human world. And from this moment, you will always remember that the source of life is the water.

Ntogn is a techno project developed by Hypnus Records' founder Michel (b. 1988, Sweden) since early 2013. It aims to weave together modern sound design techniques with a fascination for dragons, shamanism and the occult. This has resulted in what Resident Advisor's William Lynch describes as "fierce, artistic techno that sounds like little else out there" and a discography ranging from hard repetitive deep techno to dark, throbbing ambient excursions.

As a DJ-performer, meticulous care is given to harmony and progression in order to create a comprehensive and captivating journey through melodic ambience to harsher hypnotic techno currents. Over the last few years, this has earned Ntogn the recognition not only as a respected label manager and eccentric producer, but also as an inspiring DJ appearing in several prominent clubs around the world such as Khidi (Tbilisi) and Elysia (Basel).

His most recent 12-inch record Sathurnus: I (2017) caught a notable 4/5 review on Resident Advisor and scattered projects over the previous years include a collaboration with fellow Hypnus adepts Luigi Tozzi and Feral, remix duty on Retina.IT's vinyl EP Octagon and a VA appearance alongside the Swedish techno phenomenon Shxcxchcxsh.

고운 선율로 시작해 거칠고 최면을 거는 듯한 음악으로. 이 흐름 속에서 디제이는 음악의 조화와 진화에 대한 섬세한 이해를 바탕으로 관객을 매료시킨다. 몇 년에 걸쳐 Ntogn 은 유능한 레이블 매니저, 개성 있는 프로듀서 였을 뿐 아니라, Khidi (Tbilisi), Elysia (Basel) 등 세계적으로 저명한 클럽에서 플레이하며 영향력 있는 DJ 로도 인정받고 있다.

Jongmin Lee [Oslated] : I think your music and Hypnus records albums are very oriental.
Are you interested in oriental philosophy?

Michel [Ntogn, Hypnus Records] : I used to read some books about oriental philosophy a few years ago.
Especially taoism but of course also quite a bit about hinduism, buddhism, zen, some Tibetan doctrines and other westernized interpretations of it all like Alan Watts and Eckhart Tolle.
Regarding oriental influences on Hypnus I think Feral and Primal Code has been somewhat inspired by Asian culture, nature and thinking.

Jongmin Lee [Oslated] : 당신의 음악과 Hypnus Records 의 앨범들에서 “동양적이다” 라는 느낌을 많이 받았다. 혹시 동양철학에 관심이 있는지 궁금하다.

Michel [Ntogn, Hypnus Records] : 몇 년전부터 동양철학에 관한 책들을 좀 읽곤 했다. 주로 도교 관련 서적들을 읽었는데, 힌두교, 불교, 선 (일본식 불교), 티벳 종교 그리고 서양적 해석이 가미된 Alan Watts 나 Eckhart Tolle 같은 것도 읽어 보았다.
Hypnus Records 가 동양적 성격을 띄는 부분은 Feral 과 Primal Code 가 동양 문화, 자연 및 사상에서 다소 영향을 받았다고 생각한다.
