I made this beat in a very similar way to ‘Passin’, using a Dionne Warwick song from the 80s, chopping inbetween the vocals. I layered chops of the synth with this piano that had a lot of weight to it, which gave the beat a lot of depth, the vibe makes me think of flying or something, just has an ethereal feel to it. I managed to flip just the piano too which I used for a switch up to let the track breathe, and then bring back the main flip which hits crazily after that, cause it’s using similar sounds but flipped in a different way, with those crazy strings/synth layered on top. I also chopped up some vocals from the track, and ended up with 2 layers to add onto the beat at certain moments. I initially wasn't sure about them, but a few people have mentioned how much they like those vocals, so I made them a more prominent part of this instrumental version.

This was the first MF DOOM remix I ever made and I wanted to update the mix seeing as I'm working on the album. I'm not sure if this will be in the album, I haven't worked out if it will fit into the tracklist yet, I want to be quite selective with what goes on there by making sure it all flows well with each track going well with the next.  Since I made this remix I pitched down the sample to rework it as the beat for Just Zone ( https://soundcloud.com/tapeheadloops/just-zone-1 ), and I thought it made sense to use that beat here to remix DOOM's second verse. 

Hope people enjoy this one, was good for me to reflect on this mix and improve it whilst working on so many new ones for the album.

I don't often remix artists from the 2000s, but I'm always open to doing it, and in this case as soon as I heard how the acapella sounded over the beat I knew it was a good fit. Very different to the original too, 50 cent has a great presence vocally and his style blends well with this kind of beat I think. Imo 50 cent is a great artist too, actually the first Hip Hop album I ever bought was 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin'' on CD, album still holds up mad well too. My brothers big on him too, put me onto a lot of his more underground stuff from the 90s, loads of gems in his discography that's for sure.

This was a fun beat to make, the sample had so many dope elements which allowed me to really give the beat variation by layering. Even though the first flip came out nice I wanted to add chops which heightened the emotion even more, experimented a lot with different parts of the sample to see which chops would blend well. Defo happy with the final product, hope people enjoy it too!
