Tried to remix this track a couple times before and always ended up scrapping it. The original is such a classic and recognisable song so it's a bit of a tough one to work with. Always liked the vocals especially the 'slow down' hook, think it sounds pretty good over this beat. This isn't the same sample they used at all, but it does kind of sound like a slowed down version of that melody in a way. The 16 note hi hats were key for me with this one, for a while the beat only had 8th note hats, adding the 16 note hats gave it a lot more energy. Pitched it up mid way through too match Grand Pubas vocals better.
