I originally made the beat back in 2016, when I was much less focused in general and less dedicated to making music. This is one of those beats that doesn't have any particularly deep meaning behind it to me, I was in a good mood when I made it and was in an even better mood afterwards. Seeing as I made this only a couple of months after I started producing, I do think it's an important beat, because the feeling I got from making this beat and the positive vibe of the sample was unlike anything I'd felt before, and it was one of those moments that made me really start to become passionate about making music, cause of the happiness and contentment it was bringing me, and after this beat I was very motivated, and was making beats more and more often, if that makes sense. I added new drums and layered the sample to get it sounding better for this mix, and I also revisited the sample for a switchup but I still like my original flip the most, definitely used the best parts of the sample, but I think the new flip adds some variation.

This beat is a rework of a very old beat, and was actually a throwaway when I first made it: I never remixed anything over it and just uploaded it with some vocals from ‘The Wire’ layered over it at points. I was gassed when I worked out the Redman remix using this, and it makes sense cause thinking back on it, I actually sampled the same Bob James song which is used on the beat for Redman’s song ‘Can’t Wait’, so it fit his style well. I also knew I had to switch it up and lower the pitch to really bring out the low end for this one, cause it wouldn’t be a hardcore hip hop vibe without that, and I’m really glad I did it for this one. I wanted the drums and bass to come in super hard for the switch up, so I did a lot of layering to make sure that would be possible.
