“Die Vögel” is German for “the birds”, but those who've been following Pampa Records from the beginning know that this duo isn't some Schlager tribute to that hippie folk band. 

Not counting last fall's excellent remix for Dntel, it's been nearly two full years since we've heard from Die Vögel. Is something afowl? Not to worry: Jakobus Durstewitz and Mense Reents still flock together and their new EP is ready to hatch, just in time for summer. And they've got quite an interesting guest with them this time...

“The Chicken” begins with that familiar Pampa swagger, all clickety clackety in 3-D, and soon we hear the extended howl of some kind of beaked instrument, searing into your skull, as a looming voice dares you to “try to look a chicken in the eye”. Is that Vincent Price? No, it's famed shoe-eating director Werner Herzog. (But yes, this release could prove itself to be no less than Die Vögel's Thriller.) Further layers of this hypnotic laser cry enter and exit, beckoning the sunrise, but you, my friend, are captive to its trance for the entire nine minutes.

Hi to all,
 
After having done the « Stupid Cat » remix for Max Bett on FORM MUSIC in 2012, Soliman is coming back alongside Patrick Kunkel for one groovy and surprising track called « I Can't Dance No More ». Difficult to define exactly which style it is, but we felt in love at first listening : a groovy Bassline enhanced by several  drums, congas, bongas, hits playing like if it was recorded as live consolidated by a melancolic melodic MINIMOOG Leader and FM8 & PREDATOR PADS. Most of the voices were recorded by Soliman himself. Rythm & drums where composed via abbleton personalized Drumracks, Drumazon drum machine VST or 808 emulator or via MASCHINE NATIVE INSTRUMENT. 
The Mendo remix is  pure dancefloor tech house loop as expected whereas the Villanova remix explores in details the techno side with a unique hardware sound. 

Soliman : One of the main parisian newcomer artist, Soliman has signed some releases on Harthouse (founded by sven vath in 1992), RAWthentic (Carlo Lio's imprint) , VIVa MUSiC (alongside his german friend and artist « SANTÉ »), JETT, Escapisme Musique, Regular,. He did some good remixes for artists such as Max Bett, Aldo Cadiz, Nakadia, Leghau, Superslut, Oscar Sala et Fran Alberola, Citizen Kain on labels such as Tanzbar, Neverending, My Little Dog, Bluf'in, JETT, Form Music etc …..

Patrick Kunkel : Working for 9 years as the Cocoon rec digital label manager, he just quit cocoon to work for Redbull few weeks ago. Patrick kunkel artistic carreer began in 1997 by playing in sevral bands but he really focused on studio work around 2009 by releasing tracks on labels such as Micro.fon, International Freakshow and keinemusik or by collaborating with Guy Gerber for teh track called « Sleeping in a Bass Box ». In the last years Patrick released 2 remixes on Cocoon Recordings and also produced the Ibiza-Spotlight-Podcast for Cocoon Recordings, which represents the sound of the label for the summer 2010+ the Bonus Mix for the „Sound Of The Eleventh Season“ by Sven Väth. He also mixed the retrospective Mix-CD oft he „ 11 Years Cocoon Recordings“.  German hammer !!!! 

Mendo : 
Mendo means it when he says, “Music is the most important thing in my life.” The striking new star of the Cadenza crew has devoted 18 years of his life to dance music – and he is bursting with enthusiasm for the next 18. Born in Geneva to Spanish parents, Mendo’s first encounter with electronic music was through pirate radio. 
 in 2003 he and Chab founded Clarisse Records. Mendo released a string of hits on Clarisse including “Play Me With Your Sound” which Roger Sanchez snapped up for Stealth Records.
Thanks to his tireless production work and infectious DJ sound Mendo reached all the right ears. Luciano was so impressed he signed “Remember” EP to Cadenza Records in 2009 and “Encantos” EP in 2010. This was the beginning of an exciting collaboration which has seen Mendo join the Vagabundos to ignite Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza. When he’s not running with the Cadenza crew, Mendo is globe-trotting to destinations as diverse as, Japan, South America, USA , Germany and UK, giving fans a chance to soak up his incredible four decks Traktor sets that blend the best of house, live sampling and techno futurism. Mendo plays at some of the best clubs on the planet: Womb, Tokyo; Panoramabar, Berlin; Cielo, New York; and D-Edge in Sao Paulo. "The key to a successful party is to get girls dancing. Once they dance, everybody does,” Mendo says. “I just want people to have a good time with my music.” Mendo is currently working on productions including “Stages of Life” EP for Cadenza, and has a packed DJ schedule. But he thrives on pressure. “It is exciting to produce a song, then play in front of thousands of people and make them hysterical,” he says. “DJing is the best job in the world.”


Villanova : Adrien and Marc Antoine teamed up in spring 2012 to form VILLANOVA. Their first release ''Mothafunk Ep'' on Denote records received general acclaim from music critics,producers and djs. Supported by artists such as Steve Bug,Arnaud Rebotini,David August, Ryan Crosson,Ivan Smagghe or Jamie Jones, their music got played in every big music spots for the last months.They perform live or dj and always captivate the crowd with their good humor,technical skills and perfect selection of sexual house and tech house gems.Laurent Garnier and Agoria are keeping an eye on them and they got voted one of ''coup de coeur'' 2012 by TRAX magazine,what's coming for Villanova seems pretty good.

When ‘Keep It Rollin’ is the instruction, prolific crowd pleaser George Morel becomes encyclopaedic on the wheeling up of beats into a perpetual motion. He of the eternal liquid bass funker ‘Let’s Groove’ – the original now a ridiculous 20 years old! – is one of house music’s all-timers, steering the famed Strictly Rhythm ‘Morel’s Groove’ series that was still going strong with last year’s EP of the same name including the successful Claptone remix. Bottom end grapplers such as ‘That Melody’, from the ‘Morel’s Grooving Again’ run on his own Groove On label, and 90s mainstream success with 2 In A Room, are prominent in a back catalogue that time and again has shown how to balance raw ends with club class.

‘Keep It Rollin’, a tribal-educated, bass-shunted sinew strainer, thrives off dancefloor aridity when all you can see is gridlock under the glitterball. Presided over by an instructional sage telling everyone how Morel’s favourite word beginning with ‘G’ is gonna go down, the undercutting funk that’s happy to be hirsute, undulates with a one-track mind; a trip to the bar can wait until everyone is knee deep in the good stuff.

Morel’s Acid Mix sees a 303 slurp and bubble under, before peeking over the top and embarking upon delivery of great warping dollops of tie-dyed bass, returning to its watchful point of entry once its job of foaming up the discotheque is done. Hustling its way neck and neck with percussion shaking as if caught in a tropical storm – you can also detect just a little eeriness from within as a backing breeze whispers through (which could well be punters collectively panting for breath) – Morel’s rain dance busies up the original by keeping the traffic moving and pushing portly minimalism through tight spaces.

For the remix, Mendo is a precision pick; not just because his forthcoming debut album ‘Avalon’ is full of ‘Keep It Rollin’-style tribalism, but also by the fact Morel gave Mendo his breakthrough on his Groove On imprint out of Miami back in 2000. For Clarisse’s chief, the four-deck specialist orchestrates another sweat wiper, scheming seven minutes of low-slung, high strength bustle and back-to-jack drum strikes. With a passing attack of pings prompted by alien feedback, Mendo drives through the pitch black until the glare from the DJ booth’s LEDs starts gurgling in time.
