M.Nomized is a recording artist, mail artist, author, collagist and painter who was born Madrange Michel in Paris in 1956. He started his work in 1975 with contemporary music and sound research. In the subsequent 39 years he has appeared on more than 200 solo, collaboration and compilation CD and tape releases on his own Fraction Studio label, and on numerous European, Japanses, and American labels. M.Nomized has recorded and created music in many different styles, including experimental, electronic, minimalist and repetitive musics, industrial, Indian music, Algerian music, noise, cyclic and loop-based music, children's theater, ambient, piano, and spoken word. He was an important figure in the homemade music scene of the 1980s and 1990s, and was well-known for his recordings as a member of No Unauthorized. M.Nomized has collaborated with De Fabriek, Don Campau, Mr.Moto, Carsten Olbrich, The Legendary Poptones, Daniele Brusaschetto, Kora, Messy, Silentport, William Spivey, Mlehst and many others.

Cherishing spontaneity & live performance recordings, many Misled Bayonets releases take the form of intimate & oft-improvised single-take sessions. Misled Bayonets adopts an unorthodox approach to song-writing by collaborating and recording in parallel with a rotating roster of local musicians and vocalists. 

Misled Bayonets is the brain child of Portland OR, based deaf musician Myles de Bastion who also is the founder and Director of CymaSpace; a non-profit performance and recording arts space that aims to bridge the divide between the deaf and music worlds.


Björn Eriksson (aka Miulew) making electronic and acoustic experiments including field recordings and radio art. Björn has also during the last 10 years been doing a lot of electronic music in different contexts, among them together with the Tapegerm Collective under artist name International Garbageman. Besides making electronic music he also plays acoustic and electric music in different contexts.

Scioto Records specializes in 7″ records from experimental artists from all over the world. While our releases cover a variety of styles (outsider folk, avant-indie-rock, sound collages), they all share the spirit of discovery and experimentation.

The label is based out of Columbus, Ohio, through which the Scioto River flows. It’s a pretty common name around here… everything from urology centers to country clubs are named after the river. The name was picked because of it’s strong local identity. Even though Scioto Records doesn’t limit itself to music from Ohio artists, we support local businesses. We press records at Columbus and Cleveland pressing plants, we print our covers in Worthington, and even bank at a non-corporate local bank.

Keith Hanlon, founder of Scioto Records, is a member of The Black Swans, and has toured and recorded with Parker Paul and Nad Navillus. The first record he ever bought was the Rhythm Heritage’s “Keep Your Eyes on the Sparrow (Theme from Baretta)” at the age of seven. Since then, he has collected records and studied audio production. He started Scioto to discover new and interesting music.

Tape Hiss Recordings is a record label created by Scott Carr in 1990. Originally a cassette-only operation dedicated to releasing his electronic and lo-fi experimental music under the moniker Hebephrenic, it evolved over time to include work by a small group of other musicians and sound artists as well.

From 1993 to 1999 the label made the dark and twisted Christmas and Holiday humor of The Hot Buttered Elves available on a highly unique series of cassette tapes.  Most of these were either either given away to friends as Christmas gifts or sold in local shops in the Philadelphia area. As technology advanced and a small but dedicated cult following developed two compilation CD’s and Digital Collections were released to the public in 1999 and 2001.

In 2003 the label released a CD collection of experimental recordings Carr had made with the Tapegerm Collective in the early 2000′s. Around this time Carr assumed a more administrative role with that group and also decided to stop producing the old catalog of audio cassettes at Tape Hiss Recordings.

Following a six year hiatus and signalling an end to the early cassette era Carr produced a new collection by the ever-evolving cast of The Hot Buttered Elves at Christmas in 2007. New Christmas CD’s also followed in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012.

In 2013 Carr began curating and mastering recordings from the pre-label tapes he made beginning in the mid 1980′s and which he continued making until the four-track bit the dust around 2003. These soundscapes are being released in a series called Analog Sunsets, the first of which is now available from the usual online shops and a few select stores that still carry compact discs.

Currently Digital Recordings from both Analog Sunsets and The Hot Buttered Elves are available from CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes, and a plethora of other online music stores.
