Arieb's musical journey started as a child when he discovered that
when he expressed himself vocally, people would pay attention. Because
both his parents were involved in television and theatre he was
exposed at an early age to different musical expressions. According to
him the early folk and classical music he listened to influenced his
later love for traditional music. He picked up the guitar in his teens
as a simple acoustic accompaniment for his voice. During this period
of his life he was greatly influenced by the humanist poetry of Faiz
and Sheikh Ayaz, and by the humanist and revolutionary music and
poetry of Latin America, and he often performed and sang for left wing
student functions and political rallies in Karachi and interior Sindh.

At the age of 19 he went off to Croatia, just as it was breaking away
from Yugoslavia, and spent the next 13 years of his life there. In the
city of Zagreb, Arieb was exposed to Balkan and gypsy music and his
musical discoveries led him to perform on the streets, in pubs and
clubs, concert halls, and festivals, with musicians from Croatia,
Bosnia, Macedonia, Bolivia and Ireland. He was one of the founders of
the band "Shamrock Rovers" with whom he recorded two albums of a
unique interpretation of Celtic music.

Finally in 2004 he returned to Pakistan in order to immerse himself in
the local music. According to him, "I felt I needed to reconnect with
my roots in order to continue my musical journey. In spite of (or
perhaps because of!) social repression of all kinds, the street
schooling that artists go through in Pakistan is very intense, and
only the most dedicated artists can survive. Here one is forced to be
highly self-critical and brutally honest about oneself. And those who
survive this process become great musicians!"

Always nurturing a love for poets of the Sufi and humanist tradition,
Arieb has now found an expression that he can proudly call his own. He
recorded an album with IC records in Karachi, by the name of Wajj,
which includes the immortal lyrics of Bhulleh Shah, Khwaja Ghulam
Farid, and Mian Mohammad Baksh, as well as more contemporary lyrics by
Sarmad Sehbai. The last track on the album is a Bosnian folk song also
recorded with a rich orchestrated sound that uses both traditional and
modern elements.

Arieb's music came into the limelight of the Pakistan music scene
because of his input in seasons two and three of the celebrated Coke
Studio project. He has toured around Pakistan and also performed at
esteemed festivals such as the World Performing Arts Festival of
Lahore, the Lok Sanjh Festival of Amritsar-India and the InMusic
Festival of Zagreb-Croatia.

Arieb is currently finishing his next album, which, besides the
well-known humanist poets of the sub-continent, will also incorporate
contemporary poets such as Sheikh Ayaz, Arshed Bhatti and Akhtar
Qayum. According to him, "True music is the union between the
individual and the universal; a release, rapture, celebration, quest,
lament of the human spirit. If I am able to touch that in moments of
my life, I consider myself fortunate!"

"Tishmal" is the debut solo project of Rachel Brockbank. Tishmal means “hummingbird” in Luiseño, the language of her Native American heritage. The name was given to her as a young girl, around the same time she began to write 
music. 

Tishmal’s star is rapidly rising opening dates for big names like CHVRCHES, Zara Larsson, The Aces, Hippie Sabotage, and XYLØ. Her brand of brooding, intelligent pop is finding a home with fans of other female powerhouses like Maggie Rodgers and Tove Lo.

Art for religious fundamentalism is, like water for fire, mere existence, is a form of resistance.
Khumariyaan was born in the age of Talibanisation, sectarian violence, military operations and neo-imperialist expansions, in the region which is a gateway to Central Asia, in the city of Peshawar.

A band of musicians whose tunes are based on their native music, with a tinge of other native music of the world as well, our audience is the educated youth of Pakistan, and our mission is to enlighten the youth with all encompassing aesthetics and performing arts. Our focus is to elevate music to medium of peace of being, and musically, break the tradition of the South Asian vocal based musical culture, thus we are an instrumental band.

Centered on the concept that vocals should complement music, we compose with little fragments of vocals to compliment the overall harmony. We are group of individuals that came together, as on soul, to experience the trance that is live, acoustic music.

To us, music is the best sublimated form of art, and we leave its interpretation to the one who experiences our attempt at being artists. In our journey, we hope to entice musical ‘goose bumps’, and become a moving philosophical experience

Hi! I'm Kirill Bogomilov, musician, composer & multi-instrumentalist, performing original epic slavic music. Welcome to my music page, devoted to slavic epic music you won't find anywhere else. https://ffm.to/kanteleon

All the instruments I use have ancient roots including 25 & 37-stringed "gusli" (an old Slavic instrument) which produces expression sounds of slavic flutes.

Together with my team of creative musical experts, we are also crafting ancient musical instruments, with knowledge drawn from worldwide epic history legends and myths.

ABOUT MY GENRE
My music genre encompasses heroic and fantasy music, conveying ancient high adventures and epic folk tales (bylinas). This music is also linked to the old Slavonic national art of rune & folk tale singing - both accompanying rune singing and featuring as a significant motif of such runes. It's deeply rooted to the epic & medieval national music of the legendary heroes Sadko (the romantic-bard from Novgorod, a mighty national hero) and Boyan (the wandering guslar-minstrel). 

ABOUT MY INSTRUMENTS
I use the unique 25-stringed Helmet-Sharped gusli as an accompaniment to enrich the expression sounds of Balcan flutes from my private collection. The Gusli is a wooden instrument with ancient roots, similar to the slavic psaltery (or kantele) which have been played amongst the oldest Slavic civilizations and neighboring cultures for hundreds and hundreds of years.

My music is somehow ancient in some authenticity and brand new at the same time. "With light around the world" is a remarkably harmonious debut album was released in 2016 which both honours tradition that touches the heartstrings of the souls.
