Tara Transitory aka One Man Nation makes work which some consider art, some consider music. and some consider trash. Clearly, it never quite fits into neatly demarcated categories. She is trans, nomadic, and an explorer at the intersections of gender, noise, and ritual through sound, performance, and collective trance.

Tara fluctuates between Berlin (Germany) and Chiang Mai (Thailand) where she directs the performance space e x t a n t a t i o n.  Artistically, she works together with Nguyễn Baly as Nguyễn+Transitory on trying to approach sound, synthesis, noise, rhythm, and performance from a less colonial angle as well as trying to empirically learn more of the various Southeast Asian+diaspora queer existences and histories with a hopefully non-academic perspective.  Concurrently, she is working on International //gender|o|noise\\ Underground, a collection of video documents made of ephemeral public interventions done in collaboration with other trans* women such as Jenny Quỳnh Phương, Nguyễn Thiện Phúc and Kandy Zyanide (สุกุล ดงน้อย).

Tara performs solo as One Man Nation, with Nguyễn Baly as Nguyễn+Transitory, with Truna as { 23 Shadows of Amnesia } and with Pierre Bastien as Mecanation.  An extensive collaborator, her past collaborators include Kakushin Nishihara, Chaiwat Prumprajum, Tzu Ni, Shian Law, Thanisa Fah, Bambu Wukir and Iman Jimbot (The Future Sounds Of Folk).  Tara has performed internationally at CTM (Berlin), donaufestival (Krems), Gaite Lyrique (Paris), Guggenheim Museum (Bilbao), Tokyo Performing Arts Meeting (Yokohama), Museum of Contemporary Art (Taipei) and Wienerfestwochen (Vienna) among many others.

I'm a new musician from the UK and have only recently started to produce music on a more regular basis.

From as far back as I can remember, music has always played a pivotal role in my life and has been it's driving force.

I have a very varied taste in music and enjoy listening to anything from Classical to Heavy Metal to Hip Hop to name just a few.

I love to experiment with different genres of music & I plan to eventually release these in the future under different projects 

Future Looks Deep and Golden Tranquility are a small sample of what I plan to release as part of my Classical project.

Since 2017 acting in concert has built a context for queer and anti-racist projects, that experiments with how people gather through sound. acting in concert is mostly based in a very small city called Witten in the Ruhr area in Germany where we organize festivals or concert evenings, if we can muster the courage and endurance to go through with it. Since 2020 acting in concert has also been working as an online label. In all these works we would like to try to focus on ways of relating, such as solidarity, responsibility and care. Together we want to practice how we can create spaces in music that are as free of hierarchies as possible and hopefully are places of retreat for many people – against a violent normative, racist, patriarchal and capitalist world.

Seit 2017 arbeitet acting in concert an einem Kontext für queere und antirassistische Projekte, die damit experimentieren, wie Menschen durch Sound zusammenkommen. acting in concert findet meist in der kleinen Stadt Witten im Ruhrgebiet statt, wo wir Festivals oder Konzertabende organisieren, wenn wir den Mut und die Ausdauer haben. Seit 2020 arbeitet acting in concert außerdem als online Label. Dabei möchten wir versuchen Beziehungsweisen wie Solidarität, Verantwortung und Fürsorge in den Fokus unserer Arbeiten zu rücken. Und gemeinsam erproben, wie wir möglichst enthierarchisierte Räume in der Musik schaffen können, die hoffentlich für viele Menschen Rückzugsorte - entgegen einer gewaltvollen normativen, rassistischen, patriarchalen und kapitalistischen Welt - sein können.
