Malfunction

I really wanted to try and make a soul song that would be "northern soul danceable" so some lyrics and melodies popped into my head and the idea for this project was born. The lyrics come straight from my stressed out heart - driving in the UK is like this. I wish more people were considerate towards each other on the road as this selfish behaviour causes many dangerous situations and even fatal crashes. 
I used a suitable beat to make a start and Morten was happy to be involved and created a brilliant backing track (after multiple drafts that saw improvement step by step). And as the icing of a cake, Jörg came along and added his wonderful brass to uplift the song's energy further. Thank you for this lovely collab again!

That's the contemplation album complete. 6 tracks all 8 mins and this track is just words ad-libbed using the letters of the word contemplative as an acrostic like guide

Note on the tempos. So I started track 1 with a tempo of 22 BPM. A nice slow tempo allowing for a variance of being able to imagine different metrics whilst listening to the instrumental piece.
To get a variance through the album over and above that then I halved the tempo and did tracks at 11, 5.5 and 2.75 BPM

This is also a nice way of getting different in time responses from using delays and reverbs within the DAW. I wanted to retain the 8 mins per track so I used 4/2 timing and 4/1 timing for the half and quarter speeds respectively. This made it easy to lock in the 8 minute lengths with different tempos and adjusted timings

That's another thing worth learning. If you want to do very slow tempo stuff and your DAW like logic doesn't allow decimal place BPM, you can change the timing of the bar to get you count at the decimal BPM thats less then 10. This allows for being exactly in time with a wider array of faster tempos and not just ones that are divisable by whole numbers

For example

22BPM 4/4
11 BPM 4/4
5.5 BPM 4/2
2.75 BPM 4/1

It's an extra little nugget for allowing some clever timings and getting slightly different results or allowing for the option of symmetry with a wider array of timings as mentioned above
