Dance Like The Whole World is Watching

There's probably no better feedback than, "That was the BEST Ecstatic Dance I've ever been to!"

But though you wouldn't know, it was a rough set for me. I was feeling really exhausted from two weeks of dealing with bronchitis. It was really hard for me to feel the music, to connect with the dance floor, and to feel confident that I was choosing the right songs. (This was another improvised set.) And, there was definitely some mistakes.

It goes to show that what other people experience can be so different than our own experience. And, as an artist, I'm hypercritical of myself and my art. Thank goodness I have such a fantastic community to give me feedback, letting me know if I'm on the right path or not.

Sometimes I've thought I was on the right track and gotten critical feedback that has helped me overcome my ego, and other times I've thought I wasn't on the right path and gotten feedback that has soothed my heart and helped me continue onward.

By the near end of the set, I felt revived. I jumped out from behind the decks and off the stage to dance with everyone, to feel the beautiful vibe we created... together.

I was so inspired by Sharada's Vedanta workshops (see https://www.bewomanproject.info/ for more info) at No Mind Festival 2020. Based on them, I wrote this song. I shared it in the song workshop I was holding the same day, and the workshop participants named it "Our Song". So here it is: Our Song (For Sharada). Lyrics:
