Before you can remember anything you are about to say to me I will tell you it's time for a second round! Why even bother searching for questions if ANCIENT FUTURE already has the answers to them? Delivered again in the form of four tracks by four different artists, this is number two!

Is there a difference between eternity and nothingness? ALMA & MATER trace that disparity on first track "Forever Never", and could not be more haunting in the way they do it. Their search is fueled by raw 808 power and inducing saw-tooth synths, so you better watch for your shoes, for you could've already lost'em dancing too hard. Next track "Time Zone Adjustment" makes it all too easy for you to just keep on going, manufactured by the 106ERs, a tag team of future bois Philipp Fein & Johannes Klingebiel. As you probably will have already lost your sense of time, readjustments of your local time zone won't bother you anyway... Flip to the f-side and RHYTCH will take you to another place, although his "Lenoir" might not exactly be what they call reality. It's way too enigmatic for that, all you see is flickering lights and some weird machinery - but exciting, that's what it is! Find your way through the fog and enter the realms of "Okuruwo", reigned by the impeccable DREEMS & MAX SCHMITT. With a little help from their friend JOHANNES KLINGEBIEL they created this world of wonder, of jungles and oceans, of plains and deserts. There is more to find in here than you could possibly search for. But you will have all the time in the world.

@itsthewestend is the best-end. Thats what we think anyway, from his first release ‘Connected’ on BOC all those years ago to featuring on our Litterbox compilations, his massive 2 tracker earlier this year with Steve Darko and now a 3 track EP with a feature from our favourite Aussie duo @sodfmusic .

You may have seen the lead track ‘Party Time’ popping up here and there with Justin Martin championing it across the US. Blips Bloops, Whoops and super thick bass all topped off with squeaky resonance to attack the deepest part of your psyche.

‘Thinking Bout You’ takes a few steps back into warp mode with a much moodier take on the Westend sound. ‘Out Of My Head’ is a serious dance floor destroyer. Think 5am, a few too many and a gas pedal all the way down. We suggest you dont slow down..

The Hypercolour train picks up yet more steam with their next release, a double A side from Maxxi Soundsystem Featuring Name One on vocal duties and legendary sonic inventor Matthew Herbert in the remix role. Brighton based beatsmith Maxxi Soundsystem has risen to the top of the pile in recent months with heartfelt jams for Needwant and Futureboogie all fusing uplifting melodies with melancholic beats. 

And it’s a similar MO on this unassumingly anthemic new track, ‘Regrets We Have No Use For.’ Characterised by a wavy, frayed synth line that grows louder then quieter in the mix, soft shakers bring some wiggle whilst the breathy voice of Name One floats up above. It’s charming and sultry, slowly working its way under your skin at the same time as making you dance all under pinned by a monstrous, all consuming and grumbling bass line that makes your chest throb and head bob. 

Found sound innovator and general all round music chief Matthew Herbert goes for a much less soupy sound on his remix. The beats here are less smooth and more splintered, propping up the now distant, filtered vocal that drifts in and out of focus. Of course, the background synth are now much more unhinged and trippy in Herbert’s hands, with the resulting effect one suited to darkened back rooms in the dead of night. 

As ever, an unpredictable release from Hypercolour but that sounds as unique as anything the label has offered up in the past.
