This is an official release in 2008.  This joint is still being discovered.  Fortunately, it is a considered an underground soul classic. Listeners familiar with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith's previous album Euclid (an album that prompted Dazed to call her "…one of the most pioneering musicians in the world.") will no doubt notice her heavier use of vocals on her new album EARS.  On all but one song, her gently ecstatic swells of vocals emerge to soar over a dense jungle of synths and woodwinds.

After initially composing on a Buchla analog synth, she wrote arrangements for a woodwind quintet, added vocals, and further refined the pieces with granular synthesis techniques she developed in her sound design work (she contributed sound design to Panda Bear's "Boys Latin" video, and handled sound design and original compositions for Brasilia co-written by and starring Reggie Watts).   

Kinetic arpeggios of synths pulse, often buoying her graceful vocal mantras, while woodwinds breathe and flutter, emulating the wildlife Smith observed while growing up on the West Coast (she even studied recordings of slowed down bird calls prior to composing these pieces).   Though some of her gestures echo the musical tropes used by early minimalist composers, the world she creates on EARS is uniquely hypnotic and full of life, not unlike Miyzaki's film Nausicaä, which she cites as an inspiration.

Berlin-based, New Zealand-born Noah Slee has enjoyed a remix by Tall Black Guy for his track "Rampant Wild Free" from debut EP, which was released in March.

TBG has taken the banger style track, originally produced by Ben Esser, and put a more laid-back, old-school hip-hop slant on it, removing the synths in favour of subtle, tinkling keys.

My favorite Joint off of my band The Cell Theory's 2008 Album "Memory is Energy". I chopped up a live session and reconfigured into this. Jason Fraticelli and I then went back and replayed the Bass and Key solos and added vocals. Totally Far out stuff dude lol. The band consists of Nigel Sifantus on Drums, Jason Fraticelli on Bass and vocals, and Myself on Keys, synths, and FX. Check the full album on itunes...I've played in many groups over the years with these two dudes, and had some of the best times of my life. Honestly Love [From The Cell Theory 'Memory is Energy' album]

I was reeeaaallly into the album "Sao Paolo" by Brasilian keys player Cesar Mariano when I got asked to do this rmx. So i decided to do it as if it was Cesar's band doing a rmx of it. I was sort of way to challenge myself to see if I capture that vibe. Also, Cinematic and Cesar Mariano both have made some of the most beautiful songs that groove in the 7/8 time signature. I had a blast making this one. Shout out the Eska on vocals. She is amazing!! We had some good times hanging out together in NY and London. And it was an honor to remix a Cinematic Orchestra track!!!

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Iman Europe releases her debut album, Nami. Nami is Iman's name backwards; a nickname given to her as a child. Ironically enough, Nami also means "wave" in Japanese and "us" in Polish, which plays a part in the thematic direction of the album. In this Los Angeles love story, Iman showcases her sonic versatility and immaculate writing skills, while keeping listeners engaged from start to finish. According to Iman Europe, she "made an album, album", taking the time to skillfully craft a storyline that many listeners can follow and relate to. "This is a story of falling in and out of love with someone, ultimately to find that love within yourself," she says. Tapping into her Creative Writing Bachelor's Degree, Iman also wrote an affirmation book titled Nami Says to accompany the album.
