Un alma más was born during the recent Colombian strike.  We met Pilar Jimenez while making the song "El grito", a collaborative piece with 71 Colombian artists in Montreal (Collectif El Grito Montreal), and decided to dig deeper with the aim of singing to our country with all our strength, trying to heal the pain of being away and seeing our country falling to pieces, with no respect for life by the authorities. 

Far from nationalism, our feeling was one of brotherhood and love for our motherland. The song was born after a Guasá Guarriors show, when Pilar and Carminda collaborated beautifully with Montreal-based Colombian folkloric dance collective Tribu Kumbé.
This hybrid version of the song was delicately built with Oonga, plus the support of a growing community of musicians. Many of the ideas of the song, like the spiral weaving making us strong in the distance, come from sharing with the Nasa people in the Colombian mountains of Toribio, Cauca.

About this compilation :
We are in a new era, a time that many say has come to connect with the sacred feminine energy and sow the seed of healing to the wounded masculine energies. It is time to reconnect with the mother energy and ancestral wisdom, leave our fears behind and wake up all together.
In "Cantos a la Madre" (Chants to the Mother) each artist presents a vision of the concept of "mother" in their own "chant", forming a multilingual compilation that investigates the development of a new electronic music in harmony with the lyrical tradition of different cultures. It includes songs in native languages of South America such as Quechua and more unusual musical experiments in German, Ukrainian, Hebrew, as well as many in Spanish, English and more.

With a large femenine presence plus the invitation to work in a mixed way between women and men, the album is an attempt to take electronic music one step further, rescuing the use of the human voice and, as well, reflecting on this broad and wonderful concept of ¨the mother¨, a concept that is transversal to all living beings on this planet.

All donations on bandcamp will go directly to the artists, heavily affected by the closure of all live shows for a long time. We invite the public to listen and collaborate with this project with the intention that any help, whether in donations or simply by sharing this album (that’s free!), is in itself a little but important seed for the rebirth of this art and part of its community.

We hope you enjoy this release with a flavor of folktronica, downtempo, house and experimental, created with endless love as a musical jewel to delight not only the ears, but also the heart and soul.

Here in Brazil, 'Dia dos Namorados' — equivalent to 'Valentine's Day' on February 14th — is a 'commemorative' date on which the loving union between couples is celebrated, particularly on June 12th since 1948, but the motive is exclusively commercial. Thus, we adopted the month of June to release mixtapes that will distribute different interpretations and 'sound-link' related to the theme.

Love is essential to our well-being. Though love can be very confusing. What we call “love” and what another person calls “love” may be divergent. Closeness, romance, commitment, connectedness, sexual consummation, decision, bondedness, physical attraction. Hard task when trying to figure out how those aspects are inserted in our relationships. But we don't want answers, we only want to explore the emotions brought by music.

'izyk y zira' is a newcomer self-confessed music nut duo integrated by Hugo Siqueira & Moisés Lourenço, currently based on the Brazilian hinterland city of Uberlândia. Both embrace and feed virtual territories focused on electronic music; Hugo manages Function FM — a non-profit web page, later radio, for the dissemination of e-music, while Moisés (yours truly) runs the slowcontaminated digital label Casa Caos. After meeting one year ago, they followed the natural progression of working on music together, incorporating their broad range of musical backgrounds into their b-side blends born out of the elements of slowness, riddle samples, glitch, uncharted electropop, abnegated and newfangled music.

Gathering music from the deepest hollow of their storage hardwares, through 61 minutes the duo narrates and travels adventurous paths with razzle-dazzle sinusoidal vibes, however cannot last on its own, it was conceived as a single message sent and heard on a beeping nagging electronic secretary. And so, encounters a storytelling slightly less driving and more experimental than their separated selections.
