Soulection recently collaborated with Team Supreme (https://soundcloud.com/beatteamsupreme) for their weekly beat cyphers and put out one of the best volumes to date. Soulection Co-founder Joe Kay chose the sample 'Add the Bassline' from the very talented vocalist/producer Jordan Rakei who hopefully puts out a release with Soulection in the coming months. One of our heavy hitters Evil Needle thankfully participated in the beat cypher and created this amazing remix that ended up being so good that he had to extend it from 1 minute to a complete track. We couldn't help but share this track with you and give you an idea of what's to come.

Promising Netherlands producer Ganz releases his debut Terrorhythm EP fresh from the hype of his remix of fellow label-mates Louis Futon’s ‘Shoulda Known’. Pvrple Cwtch (welsh for ‘hug’) sees Ganz reinterpreting popular bass music motif ‘Purple’ with a palette of punchy stadium drums and glossy synths, reminiscent of a certain few Scottish beatsmiths.


Ganz goes straight for the jugular with first track ‘Get One’s’, delivering a restless bassline akin to a whirring, supercharged cattle prod amidst chunky percussive whiplash and an infectious vocal hook.


Next comes ‘Purple Forest’, an electrifying, warpspeed cruise through its icy surroundings, illustrated by layers of peaking, rapturous mid-range and trilling hi-hats.


Final track ‘It’s All Good’ begins with a warm, swooning dose of sub-bass before launching into a turbulent energy surge complete with prog-rock drum fills, shimmering arp melodies and elevating vocals, resulting in a track as emotive as it is club-ready.

When Ta-ku recently came out to LA we had the chance to finally meet and connect after years of pure digital connection. Ta-ku by far is an individual (beyond just an artist) who we respect so much as a person aside of his great talents as a musician. In fact, Ta-ku is someone that has pure role model characteristics. Earlier this week, Ta-ku pointed out that we just reached 10K LIKES on our Facebook page and mentioned how he had started on this track that was dedicated to a man named Trey who recently passed away from cancer. Quake

This is a shortened down version of a remix I did for MMOTHS recently. If you want the full length (mixable) version then you can get that from here as part of an excellent free remix package: http://mmothsmusic.com/diariesremixes

It was a nice remix to work on, with some great field recordings, a lovely simple piano riff, and some looped vocal samples which all slotted nicely into the new structure I wanted to go with - something a bit more club compatible than the original, but still hopefully carrying the feeling.

I messed around with the field recordings in the Monolake Granulator a bit, to get some subtle glitch/randomness in there, but other than that I went pretty straight on the arrangement, just gradually introducing the layers and adding a new synth to punctuate the peak, and a new bassline and chord variation.

The idea with the field recording/glitched intro section was to try and make something non-melodic and a bit harsh and cold, in attempted polar contrast to the warmth of the main melodic section and enveloping bass ie I wanted try and make the bleak part emphasise and accentuate the nice part.

So, anyway, here it is, as a free download for all.
