The Jolisa EP marks a significant shift in Luca dell’Orso’s sound. Although the electric hooks and rolling rhythms that characterise the dutchman’s signature style are still present, new avenues are explored. One notable change is the addition of vocals, care of the EP’s namesake: Jolisa. The opening, “Sixteen”, smoulders with a palpable intensity. Steady beats and textured pads support synth stabs as impassioned vocals recant a tale of past lessons. “Reach Out”, on the flip, is a different animal. Big and daring, chords chug next slicing snares while lyrics brim with hope. Two instrumental works balance the four tracker. “Nighttime” is perfectly sculpted with a soulful melody and clean percussion, vocoder lyrics giving a sorrowful slant to track. A true epic closes: “Tomorrow’s Already Here.” Bold keys and racing rhythms collide in this 80s steeped extravaganza, electro-disco and car chases in this incredible end. A defining EP from Luca dell’Orso.

Bristolian Italo producer Emmet Read delivers his debut solo 4 track EP.

Inspired by the likes of giorgio moroder, clio, mr flagio and more, this EP uses famous synthesisers from the 80s and brings it to the present day italo revival.

Emmet Read is the Italo solo project from Producer Oliver Read. A decade producing and DJing in Bristol, he is no stranger in the field.

All in all this EP is designed to bring joy to dance floor.

Hot on the heels of Sprechen’s debut release from Damon Jee which found favour amongst names such as Ivan Smagghe, Justin Robertson, Nick Warren, Jacques Renault & Kasper Bjorke comes the follow up from label boss & founder Chris Massey!

The Pink Flamingo EP kicks of with a no frills, straight up powerhouse pumper in the form of “You Are Divine” which tips the hat at the self proclaimed “Filthiest Person Alive”….a big bubbling Hi-Nrg style workout with added keys & cosmic drenched weirdo drum sounds (courtesy of the Emperor Machine) ensures that more than just the top shirt button will be getting undone during this campaign.

This is followed by “Floor To The Four” which takes the jackin baton and goes for gold….cut up & stuttered vocals from a Chicago producer are scattered across a full on 909 workout that leads to a drop where said producer explains the inner workings of certain studio toys….one for the geeks & the freaks….all are invited!

ROTCIV gets busy on remix duty for Floor To The Four and brings all his Berlin based wisdom to the party to deliver a whole much darker affair which belongs in the deepest of darkrooms…the addition of piano lightens the mood whilst still keeping one foot firmly in the mist…lovely stuff.

1. Chris Massey - You Are Divine (feat. Emperor Machine)

Owing their foundations to traditional afrobeat (and named after a Fela Kuti song), the Brooklyn-based, female-fronted band, Underground System, has built an international reputation around a seamlessly executed stage show, astonishing wherever they go, and compelling crowds to move with unbridled verve. 

Robbing American “afrobeat” of its derivative formalism, Underground System continues to reinvent their brand of global dance music, remaining a force determined to recreate, redefine, and reconstruct. 

In September 2018 the band released their debut LP What Are You on Soul Clap Records, the much-loved New York City imprint known for their coupling of party-ready DJ culture and shapeshifting live acts. Departing from the extended forms formally associated with Underground System’s live performances and stylistic roots. Hints of afrobeat, no wave, world, electronic, contemporary classical, disco, house, and genre-defying elements combine tightly to reflect a self-aware, edgy, and cohesive statement not currently being made by any other band.

Following up on “What Are You,” Underground System returns to Soul Clap Records with a remix package & music video for their standout single “Just A Place” due out, June 7th. Full of heavy hitters and dancefloor bombs, leading off is Germany’s king of the remix, Gerd Janson, who gives us a powerful 80’s influenced main mix and a stripped back drum tool. Joining Gerd on the package, UK legend Greg Wilson, who joins forces with his son Che, along with Soul Clap, Midnight Magic, Sol Power All-Stars, and Underground System mastermind, Peter Matson.

Moustache Records welcomes Senor Chugger to the label family! His debut EP 'One More Tune & One More Pint' (yes come on let's have it!!) aims to encompass the euphoric feeling of being on a dance floor with nothing but your mates and some good music (and pints). Honestly I'd be happy if that's what's awaiting me in the afterlife. 'Press the Flesh' is the head of our proverbial euphoric snake, making no promises other than you'll have a bloody good time listening to it. 'Midnight Scooter Cruise' is about those last few moments before the lights come on; feeling genuinely happy to have been able to live in the present for more than a few seconds throughout the night and have a laugh - followed by thoughts such as 'Goodness me I'm going to feel horrific tomorrow'. Flipping over to the B side (or the snake's ass, if you will), we have 2 tracks competing for the loudest snare award. 'Head in the Clouds of Smoke' is a nod towards the great times had in the peak of the midday sun at festivals, where otherwise non-smokers inexplicably decide to chuff their way through a 20 pack. Last, but by no means least, 'Newton Abbot Reunion' is about going back home to see old friends - one of the more wholesome hangovers I'm sure you can relate to. Overall this EP wants you to keep on dancing - there will always be one more tune, and one more pint (unless you've had too many in which case don't do that). 'Very very good EP. People haven't even had a chance to realise that 2021 will be just as weird for the first 6 months and Frankfurt transplant Stefan Haag better known as Chinaski and professional youngster Philipp Lauer already crossed their beams to shed some light into corona-tristesse. City Galerie is a tribute to a mall in the north bavarian town of Aschaffenburg, where Lauer bought his first LPs . Straight up brutalo futuristic architecture.
