Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an instant classic from the moment of its release in 2010, and at long last the band has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites @Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year-anniversary package (minus one lost year) that once again establishes the timeless quality of the song with a fresh and versatile package of new remixes.

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey, New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. They did it again! Slow Motion Records head Fabrizio Mammarella and Robert Johnson resident Philipp Lauer team up once more under their Black Spuma alias to deliver the latest installment of the LARJ label, namely their Hypercall EP. Combining Italo Disco vibes with a note of summer-ish excellence Philipp and Fabrizio certainly provide followers of the arts with a musical approach that hits close to their hearts as it comes with a well-needed warmth in sounds making one crawl for or at least imagine a time you spend with friends under the blue sky. The A1, Station To Station, therefore provides as the starter for this journey. Bleeping chords paired with pads set the tone for this take and are enriched with a memorable piano-interlude which leads into seemingly futuristic lazer-esque chords chasing one around the world.

From Mr. Finger to Miss Kittin to Seth Troxler, many of the most memorable cuts in house music history spell out, with spoken words, the experience of clubbing while in the club itself. Meta-musical moment found to be effective on the dance floor. So it goes with “Can You Feel It,” 
the latest by Anja Schneider and guest vocalist Parsifal Marin of Brussels Pony Club.

Named after the signature Larry Heard tune that introduced the world to “Jack,” the track is the latest by DJ/producer/radio host/label head Schneider to pay homage to the Chicago greats, following last spring’s Ron Hardy-inspired “Hey,” which became an instant fave when Anja dropped it at the always in demand Mobilee rooftop parties in Barcelona. Slump Recordings boss Baby Rollén’s ’Feeling Mumbled’ Remix is an ultimately playable DJ tool; one that renders an after hours sunrise as chords bounce of the tracks surface like rays of light while tight, nifty shuffles interlock with a bouncing bass line.

’Heart Life' by NEAT adds a further facet to the compilation with an allaying Italo-tinged groove.
In ’Neonim’ by Laroz, a gently jagged bass line bubbles away, creating a buoyant bed for expertly crafted drums which pop out with expressive alacrity. Dulcet piano tones form a bond with amber-tinged synths as warming soundscape is developed.
James Curd throws a dart straight to the dance floor with the jazz-tinged House jam ’Feeling Mumbled’ built from a classy palette of samples.
Sandhog closes the album with the highly memorable recording 'Berlin' that speaks to the power of simplicity.
