It’s Bedrock debut time for Liverpool’s Steve Parry, one of the UK music scene’s most industrious, passionate and engaging characters. With 25+ years of DJ experience behind the decks, a monthly show on Frisky Radio, running Selador Recordings (alongside Dave Seaman) and his ever-growing SMP3 Music operation, it's excellent news that Steve has found time to get into the studio and create “Flippant” for John Digweed’s globally renowned, forward-thinking Bedrock label.

Steve’s first solo release (for far too long) is a full-on acidic banger that builds from a quirky bouncing percussive backbone, into primetime 303-territory. With its hugely energetic, classic, timeless vibe, “Flippant” is mind-meltingly monstrous and a perfect addition to the Bedrock musical story.

There are DJs that are instantly recognisable because of their standing in the scene, their visibility on social media or the wacky things they do, and then there are equally talented, immensely passionate people who prefer to work off the radar, people like Steve Parry. 

Having amassed a wealth of musical knowledge and honed some serious DJ skills since the age of 15, by working as manager of the world famous 3 Beat Records; holding down a 3 year residency at Cream in Liverpool and subsequently DJing around the globe; hosting his “Red Zone” radio show for 10 years, featuring the hottest new music and regular world class DJ guests; and promoting a series of legendary underground club nights over the years, including his latest project, “Luna”, it is no wonder that Steve Parry has also developed such superb studio skills, as demonstrated here.

“Flippant” will be released on 26th October through Bedrock Records.

We were deeply saddened by the events that occurred in Paris on Friday.  Our thoughts right now are with the people of Paris, a place that is so dear to our hearts.  Music can be an escape through these difficult times and that is why we decided to do this free giveaway with Sebastian Mullaert of his seminal Ovum release "Chant de Paris", a composition which was inspired by this great city.  In the words of Victor Hugo "Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent."

Now is the time to chant for paris! and Ovum is doing so by sharing the track ”Chant de Paris” for free. 

The tragedy in Paris last friday is a tragedy for everyone. Why this happened is beyond my understanding but I know that all of us and how we live has an effect on how the world looks today. We all share the responsibility for the pain and the happiness in the world; today probably more than ever before in the history of human kind. A common phrase by people in Sweden who don’t want more refuges in Sweden is; ”let them deal with their problems in their own country, we can help them there but why should they come here?”. When I hear that I like to answer; ”who grow your food?, who sewed your jeans?, where does the gasoline in your car come from?, who made your smartphone?" and so on! 

But what can I do in Sweden to help the pain in Paris or Syria??? (or anywhere else where these tragedies is part of daily life). 
I really feel that there is only one place where the change can take place, and that place is always with you … it is you, it is consciousness. I tell myself to stay open, whatever comes up in my awareness, both on a mental, emotional and physical dimension. Stay here! Watch what is happening, watch what’s ”coming up” or ”passing by” … may it be emotions, thoughts, visions, physical manifistations or anything else. Some things are pleasant to watch and some things are terribly hard to watch … but stay, stay here, stay open! give your space and your consciousness to See and Heal, heal You and everyone else. And when the moment comes for you to act, act from this place, act from the place of understanding, compassion and love and I believe that your actions will be part of the change for a better world. 

I’m writing this mainly to myself, and I believe it’s important to remind myself about this but don’t take it wrong … I really don’t know anything and don’t listen to me if it doesn’t resonate with you.

Since his acclaimed album release in 2009 with ‘When A Banana Was Just A Banana’, Josh Wink has been heavily touring and working on building a new studio. Last year he produced his greatest creation to date, a beautiful baby son. After taking some time out to enjoy his newly found fatherhood, he finally got into his brand new studio towards the end of 2012. The outcome was ‘Balls’ – a ten-minute drive of pulsing intensity bating towards a huge breakdown, unlike any of Wink’s work to date… 

“I am always surprised with what happens when I go into the studio after not being in there for a while. I feel heavily inspired to make music by all the great things I hear and from personal experiences that have occurred over the past year. I didn't expect to make a techno track. However, the grooves came quickly and naturally along with the hypnotic analog pulses. Originally I came up with the foundation of my grooves using a beta version of Ableton's Live 9. And after I constructed the fundamentals of the track- I hit record, tweaked and grooved the components live for 20 minutes, and then tightened up and edited the best parts into a sequence. Then I played out, got some new ideas from crowd interaction, and re-tweaked and made improvement.

When describing the track to Matt (Ovum label manager) I was saying that I think that you really have to have balls to play this track, as it's a little different from most of the music out there right now. The track's time couldn't be edited down any further as the story and journey wouldn't be conveyed.  So, the ten minutes is DJ friendly and I'm happy that I can express my tale. The track, usual of my work, is based on aural textures and tension. The breakdowns have changed through several attempts, and are now adjusted to drive the crowds, whether in clubs or festivals.” – Josh Wink

When you’re as iconic a figure as Josh Wink, it’s not so easy to sum up a career in a few words—but there are a couple of terms that might serve to get a handle on the seminal electronic-music producer’s lifework. One of the most apt, certainly, would be longevity. A brief scan of Wink’s mammoth résumé reveals the following: Early-’80 days as an underage mobile DJ; a major role in fostering his native Philadelphia’s burgeoning warehouse scene during the house-music explosion later that decade; name-making ’90s club hits like “Don’t Laugh,” “Higher State of Consciousness” and “I’m Ready”; a label, Ovum Recordings, that’s undisputedly one of the most essential dance-music imprints; and his current position, after all these years, as one of the scene’s most vibrant and creative DJs and producers (witness the critical success of his 2009 long-player When A Banana Was Just A Banana).

I love electronic dance music since 94 eariler as a kid i alsa like snap, klf, technotronic and roxette :). 
In 94 after fascination of electronic art appear fascination about electronic music. First videos was mostly computer animation (one love by the prodigy)
It was time when Mtv was music station also with alternative genres Mtv had astonish chill out zone and party zone ofcourse was too viva with transe and frau house and mcm with Rave on the Eye tech.

I love a special early music the artists from United States - Detroit, Jeff Mills is my master as a DJ. England - Fascination of Rave. I fall in love in group The Prodigy, Later i found Underworld, Chemical Brothers, Future Sound of London. And Later i discover music of Altern 8, Acen etc... France - Laurent Garnier, Scan X and Germany - Sven Vath, Tresor Berlin Club music and my favorite Acid Band HARDFLOOR :). My first vinyls with Acid was Computer Controlled by S. Malm.
I making music in Reason 4, but also in Rebirth and sometimes i back to Buzz.
