A Flock Of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song

I worked on this one during the quarantine period of 2020...I bought some recording stuff to fill the time, and so this is my first completely solo recording since I was in college.

I chose this song because it was a new exciting listen for me, and I didn't have to plan ahead what I wanted to record this time; I could just start straight away. Also I've played this tune in a marching band for years so it became a bit of a joke that it would always be played...

It's "Enola Gay" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, a No.8 UK hit in 1980 for them. They used mostly transistor organs for the keyboard parts, so I tried to be authentic, but unlike them I used my ARP Odyssey for the synth lines, as it was a good opportunity.

The "real" drums are unfortunately programmed as I had no access to my drums, but everything else aside from the actual drum machine is played fully by hand. The chimes are a sample of me playing on one of my old recordings, as I didn't have them with me either...

Technique - Biography 

 

 

During the 1990's , Alex Tibaldi (vocalist/keyboardist), Robert Tibaldi (keyboardist) and MACHINERY, heavy influenced by bands and artists like Kraftwerk, New Order and Depeche Mode, decided to start a music project. 

 

With the aim to make electronic music the way it was made during the early 1980's, they began to put some songs together. In the beginning were just man and machine, some years later they decided to put vocals, when they originally released their independent debut album titled “Memorizer”, in 2013. 

 

Technique was subsequently picked up by Scentair Music on second album in 2016 titled “Touching the Void” and a reworked version of their first album was released in 2016 again with some new versions and remixes by many producers and bands like Substaat from Norway. 

During the last gigs, Technique decided to have a live percussion in its shows. Marcio Vaez, DJ and drummer as well, was the perfect choice because He has an excellent knowledge of electronic music. 

The first international appearance happen in 2017 at  Wave Gotik Treffen Germany !!
