‘Disconnect’ sees BTK and Abstr4ct join forces for a heads-down Drum & Bass workout that’s equal parts dancefloor weapon and mind food. BTK’s trademark surgical beats lock in tight with Abstr4ct’s shadowy atmospherics, rolling out on a bed of heavy bass and crisp, precision breaks. It’s got that warehouse in the early hours feel, dark, tense, and built to rattle ribcages.

But this one’s more than just a rinse-out. There’s a message woven into the grit. ‘Disconnect’ taps into the idea of stepping away from the constant digital hum, shutting off the scroll, and cutting loose from the noise that chips away at your headspace. Every drop feels like a reset button, every breakdown like a breath of fresh air in a world that doesn’t stop shouting.

BTK and Abstr4ct have cooked up a tune that’s primed for sweaty basements and festival rigs, but also sneaks in a little food for thought. Heavy, moody, and with a purpose, this is Drum & Bass with something to say.

Celebrating the sounds of Japan, Viper are proud to present the first ever' Land of the Rising Bass EP'.

Featuring 7 brand new tracks from a variety of Japan’s hottest talent and curated by Futurebound, 'Land of the Rising Bass EP' is packed full of the darkest, dirtiest side of Drum & Bass giving an enviable taste of the club scene in Japan.

Kicking things off, YASUKI & mimiiQ team up for “Chase The Light”, a futuristic record with a funky and pulsing beat that is sure to blow heads clean off.

Next up, DJYOUTH brings a slightly lighter sound to the mix with infectious vocal chops amidst a vibrant soundscape before dropping into pure jump-up infused carnage – “Without You” is as catchy as it is bass face worthy.

Keeping the energy high, Mountain’s “Warn You” is equal parts ominous and enchanting, with a sinister build-up leading to an even more sinister drop. A dancefloor destroyer in every sense, the bar is set incredibly high.

DJ AKi teams up with Yellock on the massive “Destruction & Rebirth”, with mesmerizing vocals drawing the listener in before exploding into a fast-paced, hi-octane drop that will decimate any dancefloor.

Maozon’s “Escape” follows, another dancefloor destroyer made to be played at full blast on the best underground sound systems the world over. The euphoria of classic dancefloor DnB meets a much darker side for another seriously heavyweight tune.

Azumai’s “Guilty Of Murder” then presents a haunting opening, slowly building up in suspense and atmosphere before delivering a sinister sci-fi-esque drop that chills to the core.

Closing out the EP, Seventhrun’s aptly named “Bouncy” delivers blazing, bold energy – a final taste of Japan’s formidable club scene and the perfect end to this hard-hitting release.

With 7 tracks all delivering absolute carnage, 'Land of the Rising Bass EP' is certainly not for the faint of heart. Viper are proud to represent the sounds of our DnB brothers and sisters in Japan and to celebrate the talent of the Viper family the world over!

The pilot quickly glanced either side of the cockpit, peering out through the oil-stained reinforced glass that separated him from the thick clouds of the permasmog that he and his fellow skykillers were now gliding through. Death’s whisper rode quietly on their tails, the promise of a further step into the unending cycle of violence as irresistible to it as the concept of the freshly slain under its ivory digits. The pilot had acquired a sense for its presence, drawing fierce consciousness as mortality skewered him viciously against the present. In a moment, they soared out of the thick wall of pollution and the skies lit up with stark abruptness as plumes of burning oil billowed from his brothers’ vehicles, their screams and burning skin engulfed by the rapid fractal destruction of their mechanisms. Death screamed with wild abandon at his hind, as he slammed a nitropellet into the furnace and smashed the rapidstart of his engine. The propeller whirled immediately into action, rocket thrusters firing and pushing him deep into his seat as the steam snaked through his nose ventricle and he became intertwined with his infernal engine, enveloping him in its toxic carnage. His hand moved to the bomb-bay switch, doors opening and a stack of murder rolling outside with the reaper swift behind, ready to collect the souls of the sunworshippers below, the infidel for whom the power of the perpetual engine is forever beyond.

Tantrum Desire has been one of Technique Recordings' hottest properties for years. The ultra-slick, epically huge TD sound has been continually refined and sculpted, culminating in the 2015 “Diversified” album and the subsequent volley of remixes. We've seen light and dark, power and subtlety, musicality and savagery, and, now, we've got a new four-track EP to test what further sonic reaches are yet to explore.

“Grimm” opens into a melding swirl of mellow orchestral sounds and synth motifs. Don't get too comfortable, though, things switch up as the lush sweeps and melodic touches are suddenly cut down by a battleaxe bass and building beats. We're dropped into jaw-breaking metal fists of drum that stamp out the rhythm while that bassline blade cuts viciously through the mix. This is high-tech dancefloor music for when it's time for the ravers to get their head down and skank.

We all know Tantrum Desire is capable of delivering emotion as well as aggression. And, as Laura Bayston's vocals rise over the intro of “Ricochet”, we're delivered a style simultaneously heartfelt and hard-edged. Even as the tune drops into beat and bassline mayhem, there's a rising arpeggio that adds a pure dose of euphoria, and when an extra layer of soaring melody leads us back into the vocal, it's game over. It's a moment where we all get lost in the music.

Then, we go one step darker. “Dancing Shoes” is precision-tooled tech, as layers of rhythm are built out of kicks, snares, stabs and arpeggiated figures, all delivered in a skippy triple-time package. Here's where Tantrum Desire plays games with the dancefloor, continually switching up patterns across the frequency spectrum, always keeping it rolling, but never losing that intrinsic shock-out sensibility. This is one that cries out for the reload.

Then we get to the title track. The name “Horizon” conjures visions of expansive panoramic scenes, and so does this tune. Melodies merge and separate over Tantrum Desire's trademark rock-solid, granite-tough beats and bass. There's a modulating pulse that drives the track onwards, through shadow and sunlight, harmony and discord. We're taken on a journey, but without the dancefloor ever being left behind. Musicality and sheer rave vibes combine.

This EP gets to the essence of what makes the Tantrum Desire sound resonate with ravers and selectors. There's a film-soundtrack magnitude to each piece that demands attention, whether the vibe is one of emotive floating or low-down violence. It's rave-science in action and these tunes are going to explode in raves across the world and the genre spectrum.

Drum & bass titans Drumsound & Bassline Smith first appeared on SS’s Formation in 2001 with the still-savage double-A ‘Lazor Razor / Kilo’. Delivered just as their collaborative project was beginning to truly take shape, it caught a scorching moment in time for the artists, the labels and the rampant dark tech rolling sound at the time. It also led to a follow-up release on the label’s 100th release with the equally timeless ‘Fallin’’ several years later.  
Back to the future with full circle fire: Drumsound & Bassline Smith’s chiselled riff-hyped anthem ‘World Ain’t Ready’ is the perfect launch track for the ‘Formation 200’ album. A monolithic document featuring some of the most exciting innovators in the game old and new, ‘Formation 200’ is a celebration of everything the label has achieved in its near-30 year history. The longest running label in drum & bass, Formation and its various side labels have played a role in early careers of many massively influential acts: DJ Hazard, Commix, Nero, The Prototypes, G Dub, John B, Matrix, Twisted Individual, Distorted Minds, the list goes on and on. 
200 releases deep, still firing from all cannons and super-charged with energy and innovation for the next generation, Formation Records is true pillar of the scene and remains so to this day.
