Washington D.C.-based techno duo TonalTheory deliver this week's 6AM Guest Mix, and it's a mix that hits hard and heavy, the perfect way to get your Monday going!

Marissa and Rae have been playing everywhere from clubs to warehouses in the District as Synthesis Residents. Their sets have always been signified by bending boundaries between hard-hitting industrial techno elements and mesmerizing synths and atmospheric melodies. They have played support for some of the biggest names in the industry of both techno and trance alike including Alan Fitzpatrick, Nicole Moudaber, Green Velvet, Sharam, Victor Calderone, John Askew, Greg Downey, David Rust, Fehrplay, and Triceradrops. The duo also hosts a monthly radio show, Undertone Radio, and hosts monthly parties for up and coming talent of underground music as Decibel Collective.

On the production side of things, they have a couple of releases through local labels, as they focused on promoting and supporting the local scene. Those labels include Funktrap Records, and ROAMANCE, which is the label launched by DC’s iconic underground music platform and crew, ROAM. They also have been connecting with their audience through their self-releases on Bandcamp, which includes their first artist album, How Could We Have Known, featuring 9 of their original productions with 2 remixes from Furtive and KJB. Recently, they have released two ravey, hard-hitting techno tracks with GRF Black, based in Turkey and Rated Records, based in UK, which marks their first international releases. 

They strive to merge the worlds as they incorporate their classical background into their newer productions as they continue to develop their sounds and try to conquer the unexpected rollercoaster of emotions as it captures the story of where we were, where we are, and where we want to be.

Petar Dundov returns to the label with a stunning new EP for 2021.

The Croatian superstar needs little introduction. His kaleidoscope sound has featured everywhere from Global Underground to Cocoon and SCI + TEC. He is a regular at mega festivals like Exit and Awakenings, plays clubs across the globe from Womb, Tokyo to FUSE in Belgium playing intelligent, genre-bending music to like minded souls.

The EP opens with 'Euklidia'. Eerie soundtrack-y ambience give way to a powerful low end and sparse percussion. Delicate keys bounce above the murkiness playfully. Growing into an ever larger wall of sound, the break midway acts as a reset before the second half growls into life. 'Intiwatana' is equally cinematic. Subtle tribal feels achor the low end as the melodics do all the heavy lifting here. Mind music par excellence.

The brand new episode of the In Focus series was recorded by Portuguese producer duo, CODE THERAPY.

Floating Machine and Crennwiick have come together to create what can only be described as an incredibly impressive live set as their first joint venture. As a team they have proven to complement one another extraordinarily well, their different musical backgrounds come together in perfect harmony.
Floating Machine utilizes musical influences which include techno and progressive grooves while exploring the landscape of experimental and ambient sounds.
Crennwiick has many years of professional experience as a DJ and producer; his notorious and unique sound involves using top digital techniques. He acts as a virtual analogic performer while not forgetting the golden age of the 90’s electronica music.
Their first live set as a team is immediately captivating and energizes the senses. The set then continues to lift the spirits gradually upwards resulting in the listener eagerly anticipating the climax.
Suffice to say the Code Therapy experience is one well worth repeating and leaves me, personally, highly anticipating their next fusion of refined musical abilities.
