When you hear ‘NUKE’ you think in the creator of the biggest techno event of Spain: the CODE parties of Fabrik Club Madrid. But after spending a half of his life playing a key role in the spanish techno scene, he has proven to be much more than just a ‘resident dj’. 

His first contact with the electronic music was while he was studying computer engineering in the University. He discovered the ìtrackersî: simple but powerful software tools that allowed him to develop his creativity and make contact for the first time with music production. After that, he felt the need to play his music live to other people, so that lead him to become a DJ. After starting his career in small parties and clandestine raves, in 2002 he got his first residency in Surface, the techno events of Groove Dance Club.

Born in 1973 in Istanbul, Aksak says that his relationship with music began when he was 3-4 years old, listening to his father's jazz and classical music records according to the cover art. At the age of 8, he started going to classical music concerts, albeit with some difficulty, and at the age of 11, he started going to jazz concerts. In the same years (1984), he added making mix tapes and earning money to his musical experiences.

Aksak, who has enjoyed playing and sharing music for 33 years at dozens of festivals and hundreds of venues in many countries, especially in Turkey, continues to serve the industry in almost every field as the curator of Turkish Edits, the artist of Jeton Record, Bostan Plak, Papa Black Records, FOC Edits, Trndmsk and Soul Revue Records, and one of the founders of Life from Istanbul. Describing his sets as “moody”, Aksak enjoys playing in a biting style that allows for different genres, unexpected turns but always with funk, disco and soul. 

Aksak, who has the chance to play completely different sets for different audiences in different venues due to his tendency towards different genres, does not give up on his motto “müzik paylaştıkça güzel” Which means “music is beautiful when shared” in Turkish.

To say Stephan Zovsky's career started in 2019 would be wrong. It would omit any mention of the two decades of DJing he’s got under his belt already, with countless gigs all over the place. It would omit any mention of his 2010 album ‘The Village’, produced with long-year musical partner Sandro Schäufler. It would omit any mention of his first set as Green Lake Project in 2016. No, to say his career started in 2019 would be plain out wrong.

His diverse background and tireless productivity make it impossible to pin Stephan Zovsky down to a particular genre. Anyway, mentioning his name in one breath with the term ‘Melodic Techno’ doesn't make him frown; the terms ‘tool-like’, ‘DJ-oriented’ or ‘club-ready’ make him smile. You won't hear him playing obvious bawl-along hits, but neither will you hear him playing nerdy, overly intellectual tunes. His understated, functional style sits comfortably in the middle, making him the perfect prime time artist for those moments when it's all about no-frills, strictly-thrills dancefloor ecstasy.

As a DJ and performer, she began her career several years ago splitting her time between New York City and San Francisco, beaming her love of deep house, Italo disco, tech house, progressive house out on to dancefloors, and exposing audiences to new underground cuts and rare classics. After some recent sets, Barbara’s energy can still be felt in the following venues: in NYC - Super Ingredients, Elsewhere, Laissez Faire - in SF, for Midway’s New Years Weekend festival, Fresh Start, and in Milan Italy at Linea Milano and East Market. Her sets infuse her ever growing catalog of released and unreleased Barbara productions, and many of her appearances also include a live vocal performance of songs. She’s never static, always moving through dance and broad smiles during her sets.

Italian hard techno DJ-producer MAIKE DEPAS (born Michelangelo De Pasquale) has seen the future of music and it’s called metaverse: “In the future it will blow up,” he predicts. “And it’s going to revolutionise the way we experience music.” Bowled over by Skrillex and Martin Garrix at the age of 8, and DJing at small Milan clubs by the time he was 11, Depas went on to study composition and piano at the prestigious Milan Conservatory before learning ‘life-changing” lessons from the best in the business at Catalyst’s 4-week Advanced Sound Design course in Berlin’s Funkhaus last year. Inspired in equal measures by the huge synths of 1990s trance and pounding hard techno of Kobosil, In Verruf, and Amelie Lens, 2024 marks the launch of MAIKE DEPAS 2.0 audio-visual makeover. His new EP ‘Rave the Planet’ drops 29 February on digital and vinyl via The Innovation Studio.

Discussing with Depas, the term ‘vision’ comes up often in relation to his work, especially the new music video of Voyager, an entry into the world where techno and virtual reality turn into an unforgettable, heightened sensory experience. “I would love each listener to create their own vision of Voyager,” he muses. “The character has no face so there is no  identity behind the character, everyone can be the character, and everyone can do their own journey into my world of music.” For any masterpiece to become complete, the artistic vision needs a counterpart, a mirror image, and that is the vision of an audience member. “This is what I’m talking about.”
