Ashbourne has just announced a new release: "Underground"

Ashbourne, born Thorsten Eckardt, is an artist and producer who recently announced his upcoming studio release: "Underground". The long-time German producer has been around for quite a while now. Over the years, the prolific music maker managed to highlight his diverse style with a portfolio of amazing works, including many collaborative tracks that expanded his sonic horizons. "Underground" is the next step in his creative journey, as Ashbourne continues to enthusiastically embrace growth and developing his style with every new release.

This track immediately stands out due to the incredibly detailed dynamics of the production. The rhythm unfolds slowly but surely, evolving into a dense soundscape that makes the formula stand out for its intricacy. Still, there is also a very immediate twist, which makes the music all the more exciting and powerful. "Underground" is a great introduction to Ashbourne’s sound. His versatility is indisputable, and the overall quality of the production adds more depth to the listening experience. "Underground" offers a signature funky-house sound, while still focusing on textures and ambiance to add nuance and depth to the arrangement overall. 

This song showcases how Ashbourne continues to impact his audience with immersive grooves and funky rhythms time and time again.

Mad Dog of DC - First I’d like to thank you for accepting my invitation to do a 30 for 30 House Music Mix collaboration with me! I really enjoyed what we achieved and look forward to future collaborations with you! What did you enjoy about the project?
Sinjin - I enjoyed the range of music that was presented between the two DJ’s. In addition, working with a fellow veteran in any endeavor is always a privilege. Many people think that people that served in the military are monoliths. That we are all square jawed recruiting poster with no independent thought. The US Military, let alone The Marine Corps I served in, is one of the most diverse environments in terms of not only people, but range of thought and artistic expression. To find a fellow veteran DJ was just a joy to discover.

Mad Dog of DC – I agree! What other collaborations have you participated in?
Sinjin - I had a release on Soiree Records in 2021 for The Deep Intelligence Series. But it was not really a collaboration like we presented in the 30 for 30 set. It was more of a lone wolf operation. It is usually like that for me. I guess I don’t play well with others or something. I try to … but well … ya know.

Mad Dog of DC - Who would you say are some of your major inspirations in the field of deejaying? 
Sinjin - DJs like Soiree Records founder Derrick “Drivetrain” Thompson located in Detroit Michigan are a must list for me. I remember when I first started buying records and I didn’t have any. He literally gave me a copy of every release his label had from 1991 to 1997 (which was present day at the time). No one had ever or has ever been that kind to me in this music world. Any other must list for me is Todd Perrin of Toledo Ohio. Todd, a fellow SRI label mate, took me under his wing in 1997. He too provided not only with vinyl but with lessons of how things worked. He even lined me up for my first series of residencies in Toledo, OH. I owe both of them a lot. There are others to name and mention as well but it’s a long list. I can leave it there for now. I hope to do any other 30 for 30 and thus another interview. So, save this question.

Mad Dog of DC - How long have you been deejaying? 
Sinjin - Since 1997. So, 25 in total now!

Mad Dog of DC - What do you like most about deejaying? 
Sinjin - I always wanted to be a conductor of a symphony. This is as close as I will ever get. So being able to control the music directly is what I enjoy the most!

Mad Dog of DC - What is it that you like most about House Music? 
Sinjin - The beat! Its like a heartbeat! Limitless. It goes not stop!

Sinjin - Stay tuned. Spring 2023 is going to be big! I have a Twitch TV channel I am working on. SoundCloud and RepostExchange are firmly in place now. So, I guess the thing I am working on… is bringing everyone more Sinjin von Richthofen! Through more and more channels. My focus will always remain on world events like Ukraine and National Politics. We live in dangerous times. Slava Ukraine, and long live Democracy.

I’m Mike, born in Belgium in 1974.
I started my musical career at the age of 10 with vocals and piano lessons. Later I moved on to drums and keyboards.
In the 80s I began playing with cassettes and a tape recorder, under the influence of Newbeat and Acid. Early 90s I bought my first Pioneers and professional turntables. Trance became my speciality, soon followed by Underground and UK Trance. I played about anything but the commercial tracks. This gave me the opportunity to prove myself in several local afterclubs.
After this period I got settled and started a family.
But as you all know… you can’t lose the music microbe. In 2015 I decided to start playing again. Techno was my favourite style and the results were quiet well. I prefer Melodic Techno and Techno with “a great drive”. Meanwhile my “This is Techno” series are regularly played on Techno Live Sets.
Currently I’m rather active on the internet, but I hope for more. Just like my idols, Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Pan Pot I would like to do my thing on festivals and in clubs. It would be great to entertain people and to share the style I like so much.
I’m very proud to announce that I’m one of the 300 resident DJs of Fnoobtechno.com. I hope this gives me some more publicity and opportunities within the techno scene.
Recently I also discovered producing. It’s still in an early stage, but I’m eager for more.
