Malandrø is a techno DJ based in Berlin. He started doing music at the age of 14, but his passion for electronic music and techno started in 2016 after moving to Berlin. He has been DJing since then.  In addition, he is currently studying sound engineering and creative audio production. Malandrø is also a co-founder of the techno collective "State Of Emergency" in Berlin, where they run a series of podcasts and hope to start a series of events once Coronavirus pandemic settles down. The set Malandrø prepared for TechnoFist is groovy, deep, and minimalistic.

Originally from London, UK, Andy Grant is a Washington, DC based DJ and record collector with over 25 years experience behind the decks. Predominantly spinning all-vinyl sets drawing from his diverse and ever-growing collection, his varied style is inspired by over 30 years on the dance floor. During the nineties he played in various clubs and parties around London. After moving to Scotland in 1998, he spent several years playing in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, while also helping to run The Planetsoul Network, one of the first online radio stations streaming deep, soulful house 24/7.

In 2004, Andy took a break from the scene for a number of years following a move to Washington, DC, coming out of retirement in 2011 to play clubs and parties in the thriving DC underground house scene. 

Andy is the founder of DC House Grooves, whose mission is to provide trusted information about DC’s underground electronic music community, helping to raise the profile of local DJs, producers and promoters. Along with his wife  Katrina Mir and Ramirez, Andy is resident of the DC House Grooves Show on DJ Jus-Ed‘s Underground Quality Radio, based in Berlin. You can catch the  DC House Grooves Show every two weeks on Saturday nights at 10pm ET on the Underground Quality Live YouTube channel.

CX580 is a new creative alias of Damon Bradley, one that protects, elevates, and nurtures old school trance, some modern takes on trance, and the intimate connections trance has with techno. CX580 is light to complement the dark spaces of techno. CX580 aims to unify all the genres under the "electronic" genre, with a mind towards elevating the hearts and spirits of the last remaining souls on the dancefloor. CX580 down-to-earth, unapologetic and relentless with his presentation of trance, hardtrance and techno in between.

Damon Bradley is a veteran electronic music enthusiast, DJ and promoter. Originally from Philly, Damon is the creator of TechnoFist, Katalyst, and is one of the creators of SEQUENCE.

Damon has opened for the likes of Shifted, Ben Damage, Exos, and Phase, and closed for legends such as Jeff Mills, Luke Slater, Perc, Tommy Four Seven, Headless Horseman, Stranger, Milton Bradley, and The Gods Planet. Damon's favorite spot in the lineup is closing- always wanting to leave a strong, energetic impression for the last remaining zombies on the dance floor.

Damon’s influences span a broad spectrum of electronic music, ranging from ambient to industrial techno, groovy and soulful house, and melodic progressive trance. He curates the TechnoFist Facebook Group, which was created in 2013 and now is a community that has over 3000 members.

In 2016, Damon teamed up with Ron Jackson, Jacob Knibb, Associate and Juana to form SEQUENCE, an ambitious underground techno event series in Washington DC.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Brian GUNJACK Gibbs released a slew of seminal house, techno, proto dubstep and experimental electronic records in the early 2000s.

Having left his native USA in 1999 for Asia, our man burned through 5 continents leaving musical devastation in his wake. Eventually settling in Santiago, Chile, Gunjack diversified his body of work releasing a disco funk album under the alias ECHO PARK on Skream's Disfigured Dubz imprint and the chicago house/footwork/juke label REPOTRAX (as featured on boiler room) was born. On the more experimental side of music, Jack's DEPARTURE EXCHANGE makes waves in the Lo-Fi Hiphop world establishing a merch campaign of floppy diskette singles, VHS visualbums and cassette tape releases.

Branching out into the art world, our protagonist would go on to invest his artistic inspirations to gallery shows consisting of art installations and electronic sculptures conveying a moral and political dilemma as concept fuel for the physical exhibitions in the Cine Arte Alameda and the National Museo de Gabriela Mistral in Chile's capital.

Fast forward to 2019 and Brian is injured during the military crackdown on political upheaval in October. Spine broken and badly burned, Gunjack spent months in hospital after having titanium pins inserted. After learning to walk again and fighting through some of the darkest days of his life, Gunjack worked with the US State Department to return home to his country in order to secure his legacy as a "North American musical treasure".

Currently based in Minneapolis, Gunjack is now back in full swing with several high profile house music vinyl releases in 2022 under his Valentino Roth alias. Having rebooted his seminal "Gunjack Series" in 2021, his current "techno" releases would go on to be played and supported by Dave Clarke, Surgeon and the mythical AFX. Recently starting a vinyl label under the Planet Rhythm umbrella of sub labels, DUBWARS is currently manufacturing and scheduled for release in 2023. 

Not satisfied with treading old ground, Gunjack continues to push the boundaries by taking his early "free jazz" roots back to the forefront of his productions. Creating improvised compositions at a frantic pace using an akai MPC style drum pad and arcade buttons, many a mind has been boggled this year by the iconic "HYPERJAZZ" EP with a live video from track "Whiplash" going viral. Called "mindblowing" by UK music journalist JOE MUGGS, the video marks a personal milestone for Gunjack.

Some may recognise her from the infamous ‘dances at the rave’ video that provided some much needed entertainment to the dance community during the 2020 lockdown (you had to be there), while others may be more familiar with her from dj sets at various London venues such as Elektrowerkz, The Glove That Fits, Dalston Superstore and radio stations such as Voices, NetilRadio, komrad and bloop (where she is now a resident). 

Ahead of her next show at Risen festival this April, Lola has prepared a special mix for TechnoFist's final podcast that reflects her whimsical personality and diverse taste. Juana (the artist formerly known as Brdhs) is so house. Birthed from a tribe of light-skinned opera singers and children of the soul mother from the universal vibrations of the earth spirit, Juana grew up on a steady diet of smooth jazz, jheri curl funk, and prog rock, which shaped her sensibilities immeasurably. Her early musical inspirations include Hendrix, Can, Frank Zappa, Roy Ayers, Deftones, Patrick Adams, Prince, Tool, Norman Connors, RZA, Pepe Bradock, Cocteau Twins, Roxy Music, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Mtume, and a bunch of classical dudes. She began collecting records at age 4 and stealing tapes and CDs from Tower Records at around 14.

Juana has been a DC staple since 2004. Bored with her humble beginnings as a bedroom DJ spinning pulsating sweaty drug-fueled disco sessions alone in her Northside Chicago efficiency, she relocated to DC where she connected with the likes of Sam "the Man" Burns and immediately offered to carry his records around for free. This dedicated sycophancy earned her opening spots at some of the top underground house clubs in DC, such as Red, Dragonfly, and DC Sanctuary, and lots of places somewhere down on New York Avenue. Although she is generally afraid of talking with her mouth, preferring the uttering of the depths of her heart, she also caught the attention of online radio stations and played weekly shows on HandzOnRadio (BMore) and CyberJamz (Tampa), beating down office workers worldwide with her unique blend of deep house, techno, disco, rare groove, and fart noises. 

Around 2010, Juana again decided to flake on the world, going on hiatus, and robbing it of her naked and fearless genius.

A city wept.

But that very next year, she began to harken on the sweet, ethereal sounds that haunted her her entire life, making original tracks that would propel her into fame almost immediately. For one, renown UK DJ/producer Ben Sims has said of her artistry, "I don't get it," and "It's okay." This kind of acclaim has been just the beginning of her trajectory into the the souls of true heads everywhere. Her residency at Dr. Clock's, the infamous Tech Support parties, has attracted alcoholics from all throughout walking distance.

2016 and 2017 opened up many new avenues for Juana, joining forces with numerous local heavy hitters in DC, playing the Acid People party series with the likes of Ron Jackson, Damon Bradley, and Tsurugi. Juana also recently link up with TechnoFist, Void Archive, and Select DC as part of the quickly growing Sequence party series, on opening duties for Detroit's BMG, and getting muy loca closing for Discwoman (Volvox and Umfang) and Tommy Four Seven. She's also had the good fortune to open up for the likes of Rick Wade and Kai Alce, Stefan Goldman, and Pan-Pot. Watch this space!

Bio: Based in Washington, DC, Lyceum is a dj known for pushing the deeper and more experimental aspects of the 170 BPM spectrum. Inspired by the crossover sounds of labels such as Auxiliary, Horo, and Semantica, his sets explore the intersection of hypnotic techno, grey area, and other left-field sounds. Freed from the restrictions of bpm, Lyceum has performed at variety of techno and drum & bass events ranging from the Rupture 10th Birthday at Corsica Studios in London to opening for Headless Horseman in DC. A fresh face in Brooklyn’s underground techno community, Xiorro burst onto the scene in early 2017 as co-founder of ALKHEMY, a Brooklyn-based techno collective whose primary mission is to highlight diversity in the techno scene by providing a platform for people of color and other marginalized groups. Over the course of a year, Xiorro has hosted over 25 parties, granting him the pleasure of working with over 70 DJs from across the globe. As resident DJ at The Black Hole, ALKHEMY’s monthly underground techno party, he introduced his taste for dark, fast, industrial techno. In the summer of 2017, Xiorro expanded his work outside of ALKHEMY as resident DJ and booking manager at The Gateway on Thursdays, with his techno party series: Dissolution. Intended as a limited-series party that featured locals only, Dissolution deliberately showcased women and people of color as headliners as the series developed, nodding to Xiorro’s ongoing activism work at the grass root level. To date, Xiorro has played in Boston, Pittsburgh and supported distinguished acts such as, Lenny Dee, Paul Birken, Plural, D.Carbone, Mørbeck, 138, Donor, Boris Brenecki, Ayarcana, UMFANG and more. A true proponent of preserving the original concept of the rave, Xiorro speaks to his crowd through rattling, progressive and high-hitting sonic dialogue.

An augur of ancient Rome, especially one who interpreted omens derived from the observation of birds or other methods of divination. A diviner, prophet, foreteller.

Auspex got his first taste for sonic exploration at an early age—a classically trained violinist and multi-instrumentalist since the age of 11—and it was during those formative years that he began to translate his experience of the world by shaping and bending sound to move the body, stir the mind, and still the heart. 

During his teen years, Auspex found himself delving into new musical territories, exploring punk rock, goth, experimental and electronic hybrids, fusing the organic with the technological and setting him down a path that would eventually lead him to his most profound calling thus far: techno. 

Now a regular fixture of Brooklyn’s underground techno scene, Auspex is known for creating energetic and raucous dance floors and driving them to bedlam, blending skittering techno and blistering industrial, with anthemic rave and glitchy breaks to create dense and textured overtures, disorienting cacophonies that break open to reveal buoyant and joyous moments of euphoria and release. His uncompromising and unwavering style has seen him tapped to play as support for countless international touring acts from Phase Fatale to Randomer, Kamikaze Space Programme to Headless Horseman—as well as being called upon to throw down at NYC techno institutions such as The Bunker New York, Lost Soul Enterprises, Aphotic, The Black Hole and Unter. 

Most recently, Auspex has launched his own party series and residency, Dominion, an exploration of dark, driving techno at the intersection of technology and the arcane, which has already played host to some standout names from the NYC local techno scene, as well as some bigger names making noise around the globe. 2018 will also see the debut of Auspex’s production work, with the first releases slated for V/A compilations in late Fall, as well as his premiere performances outside the U.S. in the European scene.

Rubidium is a DJ and producer, based in Oakland, California. She is a resident/promoter at the Konstruct monthly party in San Francisco.

Rubidium’s current take on techno is heavy and dense. Her sound can vary from driving to hypnotic, experimental to atmospheric, with an occasional dip into an ambient realm. She is fond of tension, creative sound design and exploring darker themes in her sets. Rubidium has opened for notable techno artists Cio D'Or, Black Asteroid and Tommy Four Seven. Rubidium also serves as art director of From 0-1, pushing pixels and podcasts since the label began in 2008.

Venezuelan born Berlin based Hyperaktivist it's been shaking the scene in and outside Berlin with her characteristic energetic sets, oscillating between faster Techno and House with big influence in the 90's and old school tracks.

She started working for the development of club culture in her native Venezuela since an early age, where she co founded SOLO the first club dedicated exclusively to electronic music in her hometown.
After finishing a degree on Mass Media and journalism she relocated in Berlin where she did a diploma in sound engineering at the studios of the infamous Funk Haus and were she continues working for the
development of electronic music as a resident and organiser of Mess, Mindful Electronic Sonic Selections a forward thinking club night with a focus on women and transgender artist from diverse cultural backgrounds, dedicated to the celebration of diversity and supporting DIY club culture around the world happening at Ohm and her newest, Mala Junta events with a focus on old school faster/funky techno.

Since selected as one of the Shape Platform for innovative music artists in 2016 she's been touring around Europe playing both festivals and underground spaces such as: CTM in Berlin, Uh Fest in Budapest, Amsterdam Dance event, Insomnia in Norway, Off Sonar in Barcelona, Skaņu Mežs in Riga, Red Bull Music Festival in Moscow and Brutaż in Poland, Cxema in Kyev, Herrensauna in Berlin, Fast Forward in Copenhagen to name a few.

Minneapolis has been a driving force in American techno, and delivered several artists to the world, but back home in the purple city, Centrific is regarded as one of the godfathers. Steve Seuling has been DJing throughout the Midwest since 1998, he's also been throwing some of Minneapolis’ best parties with various collaborators, under the name Intellephunk for the last 20 years. In 2018 he also added co-promoter of the Even Furthur festival to his list to an ever growing list of accomplishments. Centrific is considered one of the cornerstones of the Minneapolis dance music community, and he is just as likely to be seen dancing in front of the speakers, as he is behind the decks. 

As a DJ, Centrific can be called upon in many situations. Whether mixing darker warehouse techno at one of his Intellephunk parties, or spaced out funky jams at his open air Communion Sundays events, he lays down a hypnotic groove designed to lead the listener into the centrifical vortex…

Sugar is a Copenhagen native, producer, DJ and co-founder of Fast Forward Productions, whose raves in the city triggered the formation of a strong, fast techno focused community in the city before going on to achieve international recognition. Fast Forward's sound and Sugar's sound are one and the same: mercilessly fast, groovy, melodic and pounding. Sugar recently released his debut EP, No Sex Only Feelings, on Repro's Euromantic label, and he also contributed two tracks to Kulør 001, the acclaimed first release on Courtesy's Kulør label.

AADJA is now one of the most highly sought after DJs in Toronto and has been booked to play alongside some of the most celebrated names in techno including Marcel Dettmann, Amelie Lens, Oscar Mulero, Derrick May, Ancient Methods, Function, Headless Horseman, Mike Parker, Perc, Sterac, Courtesy, Scuba, Henning Baer, Anetha, Hector Oaks, Reeko and Volvox.

Besides being an active member of the Toronto circuit, AADJA has also performed at the iconic Synoid party at Griessmuehle in Berlin. 

On the production front 2018 also saw her debut release on the esteemed Belgian imprint, Coincidence Records. In 2019, AADJA is set to release more original music on both vinyl & digital and is ramping up for one of her busiest years to date.

With his roots deep in the Copenhagen DIY music scene Joachim Palsby aka DJ TOOL has been playing and collecting different music for more than a decade. After many years of playing punk, metal and electronic noise music, he slowly developed an interest in dance music/techno. For years he has been roaming the international dance floors as a loyal dancer and ended up learning the skills of all vinyl Djing. DJ TOOL is a classic example of a Dj that merges directly from the floor to the booth. His sets are authentic and the sound is oldschool, hard and fast but always funky and uplifting. While living in Berlin he met and instantly connected with his Venezuelan partner in crime, Hyperaktivist. Together they decided to create a party with a sound they felt was missing in the Berlin techno scene. Mala Junta is a smaller intimate party with focus on old school, faster and harder techno that is merging in Berlin at the moment. With friends and family in the Dj and party collectives of Copenhagen, Fast Forward Productions, BunkerBauerand Endurance his connection to the underground techno scene of his hometown is still very strong .There is no doubt about that the Berlin based,DJ TOOL is a part of Copenhagen techno and knows where he belongs 

Co-founder and resident at the Copenhagen underground rave series Endurance, Ezy is a techno DJ, producer and a time-served mainstay on the floor as well as in Copenhagen's alternative music underground. Ezy is one of many artists on the city's fast techno scene with a history in the punk scene, and in the four years since he took to electronic music, he has built a reputation for delivering all-vinyl sets of agile, percussive, banging old-school techno. He has played in Germany and Sweden recently, along with a steady stream of gigs in his home city, and is also building towards releasing his own music.

TechnoFist Podcast 102: DJ Tool & Ezy

A lover of many sounds across the electronic music spectrum, New York native Rob Seurat is a staple of the underground techno scene in Brooklyn. He founded the monthly party turned dj collective EXILE in the summer of 2016 at Bossa Nova Civic Club which once notoriously brought in Ansome to play a free show on a Wednesday night. Rob thrives in his ability to curate consistently solid lineups with a blend of locales and out of towners alike. On top of Exile, he also books its monthly spinoff party called “Elixir” which just celebrated its first birthday. EXILE’s roster includes locales A.M.D, FadeFace, and Rabia Khan. 

Seurat’s approach to mixing techno involves fusing tracks together to create points of tedium until they work up to moments where they burst into orchestrated orgies of sound. This raw mix starts off deep then turns into a frenzy only to cool off at the end.

Lana comes from the dark forests of Russian Karelia, who moved to Stockholm in early 20s and now is based in Berlin.

Lana, educated jazz pianist, has been involved in music since she was 5, and first club residency she has got in 18. While studying in jazz college, she started producing electronic music and got her first song published at Moscow Algoritmik Records. 

Moving to Stockholm, she continued gaining her experience by playing in many different clubs, but mostly has been involved in the local underground scene. Thanks to her musicality and good feeling of the floor, Lana Lain has three times been voted as one of Stockholm's best female underground djs. 

Her style signifies a strength of purpose and commitment to the roots of techno music, - moving into hypnotic landscapes and energetic fusion, blending fast and minimal, industrial and experimental. 

Since 2016 Lana made a broader impact on the local scene. She has her own radio show on Fnoob Techno Radio in UK - ФОМО on AIR. For this show, Lana invited new talents for a unique live performance, and also promotes new experimental techno music. Also she is a promoter of her imprints in Stockholm - ФОМО - gay- and fetish-friendly underground techno club, headlined by such artists as SNTS, Perc, Schake, Nur Jaber, Phase Fatale, Dax J, I Hate Models, VSK, Boston 168 and Tolkachev, many of them came to Sweden with debut. She also is behind the queer concept KOXBOX, fast music OBE and Anstalten, which presented Dj Stingray, Helena Hauff and Slam to Stockholm rave scene, to name a few. In her clubs, she collaborates with local queer visual artists, designers and performers, which made her concepts very known for the local public and abroad. 

At the moment she is busy with working on her music and planning new events.

TechnoFist Podcast 114: Lana Lain (ФОМО)

Trained on the fast-techno floors of Copenhagen, HORNS has the city's signature sound running through their rave DNA, channeling years of lessons learned as a dancer into the DJ booth. HORNS is attracted to fast and hard styles of dance music and in their sets and mixes they harness them to create bright, emotional and maximal energies.

"They Told Us Summer Is An Attitude" is named after the rave series "Summer Is Not A Season It's An Attitude", which was held by Fast Forward Productions in Copenhagen in the spring and summer of 2017. At these raves HORNS got to know almost everyone they know today, and this mix is dedicated to those friends. 

HORNS is a resident at the fast techno party Vortex at the Copenhagen club Ved Siden Af, and is the art director of Courtesy's label Kulør.

TechnoFist Podcast 115: HORNS - They Told Us Summer Is An Attitude

After getting off to a strong start last year following the creation of Voight-Kampff, Whitley and his collective have been causing a ruckus around Scotland and have found themselves heavily involved with Jaded, most recently throwing their first 2 room take over. Whitley himself takes most of his inspiration from the old school, percussive drum driven techno sound coming from labels like Downwards and Tresor - as well as holding and taking a huge amount of interest in more recent Scandinavian techno and electronic music as a whole, namely from the Copenhagen techno scene.

Bio:

SDX aka BeNi is Born and raised in Wolfsburg, Germany. He’s been a DJ for more than 2 decades, originally coming from hip-hop until he found his love for electronic music but still loves hip-hop too. After his first gig at the old Tresor Club in 1999, he moved from Wolfsburg to Berlin and had Regular gigs at the old and new Tresor Club, the legendary Elektronik Ballroom events at SO36 and the Killekill events at the Berghain Kantine and later at Suicide Circus. He’s been a resident at Suicide Circus since 2011.

After his first Release as BeNi on Null Records in 2005, he started to operate on an international platform and toured across Europe and North America. In 2014, BeNi decided to start a new Project and called himself SDX since.

BIO:

Philipp Drube started djing in 2012 as part of the underground techno scene in Hamburg. He has been running parties and DJing ever since. One year later, he moved to Berlin and became a resident at Ismus in 2015. This year, he co-founded the label Space Trax with a first release of Dimensionhopper (aka Schacke) and Lund&Rønde in late summer.

His style is diverse and spacy, combining solid oldschool techno with trancy melodies. Specified in hard- and psytrance sounds, his sets become unique and special.

I.E aka Jonathan Carroll Scottish born and German based DJ, co owner and label manager of Ismus. Having arrived in Berlin in early 2016 Jonathan quickly joined forces with the Ismus team building the party series and eventually launching the label at the beginning of 2019. Aside from his involvement in Ismus, Jonathan has been making his way around Europe playing at many like-minded party series’ such as Raw in Paris and now home to his 2nd residency Streck in Gothenburg. The I.E style consists mainly of hard techno sounds with a definite nod to 90s Trance, Schranz and Gabber.

In her aspiring career, beginning at age 16, Lindsey Herbert has continued to drift towards the deeper realms of techno, constantly honing her craft as a DJ and getting involved with the thriving scene in San Francisco. Fast-forward to 2020 and Lindsey has truly become a recognized name in her city and beyond, in large part thanks to her unique signature sets — true journeys that explore alternating soundscapes laced together by dark, deep and heavy textures, as well psychedelic elements and ethereal melodies. With tour dates that have brought her to international venues playing beside top name DJs, she is an artist to watch.

Lindsey’s hard work over the years has paid off, gaining her residencies with San Francisco’s Robot Ears for the past five years, as well as earning a spot on the roster of Berlin-based agency, Point Collective. She has played coveted gigs in Detroit, Chicago, Athens, Istanbul, and throughout Germany, as well as her recent debut in the legendary Tresor Berlin and Gate Club in Batumi, Georgia.

Lindsey's debut in the production realm was in September 2018 with a remix of Martyn Päsch's track 'Sacred' on KVLTÖ Records. Her debut solo EP was released in 2019 on LA-based label Ascetic Limited with a remix from Motionen.

TechnoFist Podcast 134: Lindsey Herbert

BIO:
Bobby Byrne and Brian Fellman met in Summer 2019 while pursuing parallel musical endeavors in Philadelphia. Byrne, an Irish native, has a background as a live-sound engineer, songwriter and producer of hip-hop, indie and rock genres. Fellman, born and raised in Philadelphia, fell in love with electronica over 20 years ago by discovering new sounds, finding new artists, and getting lost in discographies and b-sides.

An organic friendship quickly formed over respect for the music and blossomed into a working relationship based on the desire to create a fresh new techno sound for the underground in Philly. By combining live elements of synths, controllers, and effects modules with a techno-focused DJ, the duo are able to create a hybrid, fully-improvised performance by feeding off each other’s talents.  

FOR TECHNOFIST:
The mix is heavily inspired by TechnoFist itself; we’ve been fans of the camaraderie, historical knowledge, contributions, and level of professionalism the group has embodied over the years. Although we try to not take ourselves too seriously, we spent a significant amount of time sharpening our performance until we were comfortable it met the TechnoFist standard.

My name is Marko Predovan, AKA Trigg. I've been DJing for around 3 years now and have been evolving and refining my style for just as long, spending countless hours digging for just the right sounds I like. Although I play around with a lot of different styles at home, including trance, the sound I'm currently putting out is a mix of serious groovy and hypnotic/trippy techno that's often pitched up to a faster pace to produce more energy!

Around 2 years ago I went to ADE alone, and randomly went to some meetup of members of a Facebook group I wasn't even a part of - TechnoFist. The immediate and butterfly effects of that decision have been enormous, as that's how I met some of the coolest and kindest people I know. I've been pretty active in the group since and it has inspired me a lot, so this opportunity to contribute to it in this way means so much to me!
