[SILVERM18] The Strings - Equilibrium E.P.

<p>The YellowHeads make their phobiq debut with a whopping four tracks and get right to the point with the cavernous &#8220;Abbey&#8221; where melancholic chords lead the way and diva vocals are interspersed in great style. On &#8220;Give Me A Chance&#8221;, we are introduced to a modulated riff and streamlined synths in the background, while rocksteady drums provide the intense momentum. Then it&#8217;s time for some heads-down action with &#8220;Tyson&#8221;, which lets a stomping kick lead the way to a synth-led breakdown and features vocal snippets directly related to the title. Closing up, the boys hit hard with &#8220;Back To School&#8221;, a more dubbed-out affair with loopy sensibilities and big, old-school (pun intended) chords.</p>

Our label leaders strike back, showcasing their constant evolution with the eerie "Sewers", taking us down a cavernous ride filled with sinister twists and turns. The original mix rolls right in with militant stabs, letting shuffling hats and percussive edits do their business. Taking first upon remix duties is Alex Bau, where things tense up a bit, with a claustrophobic vibe steadily progressing, keeping the suspense level high. Next up is Mikael Jonasson, totally flipping things around with his own intricate sound, offering a different approach, where Techno sensibilities effortlessly ooze out of every crack. Misstress Barbara's interpretation is a pure chugger, with a solid rhythm section and some psychotic synth work thrown in for good measure

Our Yellowhead leaders return to base once more, having created another ferocious beast, which in turn gets manipulated by villains Duspeeka and Mark Reeves! 'Creature' sets a hypnotic mood with cyclic synths and clanging mettalic riffs, next to neatly placed effects that provide enough momentum for the solid drums to keep everything firmly in place, while otherwordly passes seep in and out of the cracks! Mark Reeves' rendition is a more  straight ahead gritty and jacking techno workout, featuring persistant stabs and a steady sub bass that provide the juicy low-end, in his warped version of the original, Dubspeeka takes a more cavernous approach, adding a bouncier rhythm section, while focusing on pulsating sonar bleeps, followed by a heavy drop!

16th July sees rising Italian duo The Strings make their debut on Fatima Hajji’s distinctive techno imprint, Silver M, with their brand new Equilibrium EP.


The Strings is a musical project aimed to fuse classic and modern sounds by Marco Marzulli and Simonetta Noviello - two completely different personalities but linked by one thing in common: music. Since the project’s 2016 conception the duo have enjoyed releases on labels such as Frequenza Records, PPmusic and Nightshift Records amongst others.

The duo’s first Silver M outing, sees Marzulli and Noviello serve up a tasty exclusive 3-track EP comprising of ‘Equilibrium’, ‘Arp 1.16’ and ‘Boarder Line’ - boasting an abundance of slickly programmed TB-303 bass lines, TR-909 laden rhythms, dramatic chord stabs and monster synth riffs.
