With the third vinyl release BRVTAL turns to the east and puts together two favorite noisy-industrial techno artists that originate from Asia, Ryuji Takeuchi & Öspiel.

On hearing the first sound on side A, we already know there will be no joking, because the legendary Osaka-based producer and DJ, Ryuji Takeuchi delivered us two uncompromising, heavy raw and noisy tracks. He has a lot behind him, because his first connection with electronic music was in the early 90s. Since then he lived in the US, bought his turntables, gears, got in touch with Techno and other genres that we can catch in his musical legacy.

Don't worry, there will be no drift on the B side either, because the Brussels-based, but South Korean origin DJ and producer, Öspiel represents another two songs of his own characteristic techno sound. Both tracks influenced by his practice of electroacoustic music, he has developed a musical approach based on the exploration of sound matter. His productions present a narrative in which sound design creates a dark and cathartic soundscape. Industrial rhythms are confronted with manipulated textures and sounds, creating an energy specific to the artist.

Modern, industrial-leaning techno with minimalistic aesthetics is a niche that this universe doesn't offer enough of at this moment of time. Öspiel is one of the artists who is contributing to this (nowadays) obscure branch of techno and he does it flawlessly. Void+1 succeeded in acquiring his latest offering of razor-sharp, intelligently engineered productions in the form of a conceptual EP called "And Still I Drift". It consists of 4 tracks that will keep your mind engaged and become an essential part of your sets due to their club-oriented nature.While the inspiration-origins of all tracks are not entirely clear, we obtained intel that one of them was constructed around a scene from one of the most famous, space/time movies of all time and that another one was created as tribute to a deceased Artist who he admires.  EPs that are simultaneously and equally as effective as they are interesting are a rare breed. "And Still I Drift" definitely falls under that category.  Telling you to keep an eye on Öspiel is not necessary, as you will surely do it anyway after you hear such a marvelous EP as this one.

 As an established artist, Rommek has expanded his own sound, carving his way into the current techno and experimental scenes since 2013.  His extensive interest in sound design is crafted within the cinematic atmospheres, heavy broken rhythms and electrifying tones found within his productions. 

Rommek joined the seminal Blueprint Records in 2016, releasing five EPs, gaining remixes from label owner James Ruskin, Broken English Club, O/V/R (Ruskin & Regis) and Makaton, which established his position on the map. Since then, a steady output of releases on Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint, Leyla Records, Natural Selection, Mord, Hex and collaborative release with the Spanish duo NX1 has expanded his discography. 
 
Since releasing over 15 EP's, Rommek has gained a wide range of noteworthy support, from BBC Radio 1, to features and reviews in Mixmag, The Wire, The Quietus and Fuze magazine. In 2018 he was featured within the top 100 globally charted artists on Resident Advisor. Furthermore, as a touring DJ, he has played extensively around the globe from iconic venues such as Tresor in Berlin, Printworks in London, Warehouse Elementenstraat in Netherlands, LAB Madrid and several across the Americas. From this, it’s clear that Rommek is driven to continue expanding his capabilities and keep things moving forward.

MARTHIAL is a fascinating combination of space and balance. Its tracks are an interstellar journey, enveloped in 
ethereal atmospheres and sounds reminiscent of the Detroit scenery, which captures the listener's imagination. 
The pulsating, hypnotic backing tracks create a pressing rhythm that draws the listener into an unknown, futuristic dimension.
Marthial is a lover of creating soundscapes that seem to come from a distant galaxy. 
Marthial's DJ sets are a connection between tradition, history and technological innovation, mixing techno and soulful drums, creating a dark and cold atmosphere but sometimes softened by sounds reminiscent of French electro. 
Born in Milan in 1992, the city where he still lives, Alessandro Vaccari aka Marthial is resident producer and DJ at the Temple of the Lost Future in Milan and founder of 
the 24/H Records label. 
In 2018 he started a very brave and ambitious project which is the foundation and management of the Tempio del Futuro Perduto (Temple of the Lost Future), the first independent cultural space in Milan where electronic music is mixed with weekly daytime cultural activities such 
as yoga, theatre, socially useful activities for disabled people and children. 
Within the same space, he founded his own record label, 24/H Records, a highly innovative record project that aims 
to collaborate with artists who accept the 'challenge' of producing electronic music tracks within 24 hours, residing for a few days in the spaces of the Temple of the Lost Future.

This month’s radio show celebrates the Carhartt WIP x Tresor collaboration, highlighting the historic Berlin and Detroit techno axis, also known as 030/313.

For the show, we welcome the Hamburg-based DJ @helena-hauff, who has created a mix documenting the legacy of Tresor, both as a club and record label, and its link to the roots of techno in Detroit.

Pulsing with wild melodies and rapid kicks, the mix was recorded using all vinyl, and features classics from the likes of Drexciya, Joey Beltram, and the late Silent Servant, as well as records from nascent producers such as UFO95. Hello! 

I’m back and welcome to Scene 3 of Somewhere in____. It’s  been sometime since the last podcast but I have been busy being productive.. lol. Over the past week I have had the chance to play out in Detroit during Movement at the Meta Ta Physika preparty at the Leland City Club. Along side Dustin Zahn, Centrifc, Mary Yuzovskaya, Kyle Geiger and a few others. I had a great time and it was a GOOD RECHARGE for me and my creativity. So to keep the juices flowing I decided to finally update the podcast with a few tunes that I didn’t get the chance to play out that night. I hope you enjoy. And shouts out to my neighbor Mr. Lee he's the guy in the photo on the lawnmower. He takes the time to make sure our neighborhood looks good by mowing others lawns who can do so or if the property is an abandoned home or lot. I salute you!!!
