Born in Hackney, London, in 1956, Orbit has been writing, producing and arranging music for four decades. With almost 1,200 credits to his name on Discogs, his vast and varied body of work spans classical, pop and electronic. He produced for some of pop music's most seminal artists—Madonna, All Saints, Blur, Robbie Williams, Pink—as well as being, as his interviewer Matt McDermott explains, "one of the most prolific electronic music remixers of the '90s." He released 11 solo albums and seven collaborative albums—as part of Torch Song, Strange Cargo and Bassomatic—and founded Guerilla Studios in the '80s, working with artists like Cabaret Voltaire and Gary Numan. In 1995, Orbit released the Pieces In A Modern Style LP, which paved the way for musicians like Nils Frahm and Jon Hopkins, who bring together classical arrangements with electronic production in revelatory ways. 

The journalist Kate Hutchinson described Orbit as "the Mark Ronson or Jack Antonoff of his day." But as this conversation with RA highlights, Orbit is once again enjoying his day. Having, in his own words, "spent 20 years becoming disengaged," he has just put out his first solo release in seven years—the Sunbeam EP on Anjunadeep—and things are feeling good. "I know how to have fun," he said. 

In conversation with McDermott, Orbit shares stories about his fascinating career, how to make a great record, working with Madonna and how to stay relevant in a fickle industry.

Procedente del punk y con influencias muy diversas, SOLARIS  @solarisifz se ha convertido en una DJ muy ecléctica basada en el Techno rápido, el UK-Bass, el Footwork, el club deconstruido y los ritmos rotos. Dio sus primeros pasos en la escena Techno a través de fiestas en Dresde alrededor de 2009. Después de mudarse a Leipzig alrededor de 2012, se convirtió en la booker principal de Institut fuer Zukunft de 2014 a 2017. En 2017, junto con Stanley Schmidt, fundaron su propio sello llamado "PH17"  @ph17music , centrado en la música de club experimental y también comenzaron a actuar y producir juntos como Monsanto High.
Hasta muy recientemente presentaba su propio programa mensual en la radio londinense rinseFM en el que intentaba presentar a artistas locales y emergentes de Leipzig. También ha participado en grandes plataformas como Boiler Room o HÖR Berlin.

Leipzig based duo Monsanto High aka Stanley Schmidt and Solaris are no strangers to hours. Both have already left their mark on Vienna’s dancefloors with some superb DJ-Sets. Solaris is not only DJ but also core member of the progressive and much appreciated club project Institut für Zukunft, where she’s responsible for a lot of distinctive and high quality bookings. The nonchalant Stanley Schmidt is DJ, founder of Rivulet Records and producer of some terrific house tracks. Together they are our favorite high!

Stanley and Solaris are coming from different angles of electronic dance music, but team up in the latest entry of our mix series in a unique mixture of grainy and also spheric sounds. Enjoy 70 raw minutes of Monsanto High and check them out playing records if close by.

The next Molten Moods Mix episode by Monsanto High is a breakbeat-focused blend of club music. It was recorded during a Molten Moods x Tuesday Slump club night on June 30, 2018 at Rote Sonne in Munich. The duo Monsanto High is comprised of Solaris and Stanley Schmidt. Highly experienced and highly eclectic – Solaris might be one of the freshest DJs playing the international dancefloors between Berghain and Beijing. Last but not least she used to work as the main booker of IfZ until mid 2017. Stanley Schmidt might ring a bell from his tracks on Rivulet Records, while he lately attracts attention through his releases on PH17 and a residency at the infamous Buttons party at ://about blank. PH17 is a young yet distinct label run by both Solaris and Stanley. Up to now the imprint's catalogue consists of three absolute killa forward thinking releases and an idiosyncratic visual concept inspired by aesthetic forms from GDR architecture.
