Paris-based Nuir shares a *FLINTA-only productions mix for us, neatly combining club-driven energy and introspective moods. Beginning with a beautiful, beatless intro, the DJ and producer takes us through murky soundscapes, lithe melodies, swirly polyrhythms and many more textures derived from IDM, electro, trance, UK bass and beyond. Having made their debut as a producer on Mama told ya, Nuir has continued to explore and experiment with their sound, as told through releases on Collective, Maison Close, Matière and Ghetec. Internationally established artists, including Francois X and Anetha, have played Nuir's music, further supporting an artist unafraid to fuse instruments, hardware, software, and their own vocals across their work.

Here is the recording of my recent set at UMI club in Brussels (10/31/24). I took immense pleasure in crafting this 3-hour warm-up ahead of @man-outta-space and @lauracharlier. My aim was to immerse the club into the dark recesses of what Freud described as ‘Worrying strangeness’: that hidden strangeness within us all, an unfathomable mystique that shadows our existence. From this natural mystique, I sought to guide the audience through the deepest club sounds of techno, rooted in the resonances of Detroit and infused with low-end basses, adding layers of depth and reverberating intensity.

PS: I encountered a slight issue with my recorder, which split the recording into two parts. Strangely, the gain on the second part is slightly lower.

Composer, producer, and DJ dragongirl has recorded a mix for us featuring some of her own tracks too. Having released her critically acclaimed debut album 'hot blue' on the Norwegian label Sheep Chase Records in 2023, dragongirl has since brought her vibrant sound to some of Northern Europe's most well-known clubs and festivals including Denmark's Den Anden Side, Berlin's OST and OXI, and Kaleido Festival. Her sets blend trance, techno and happy hardcore with influences from Eurodance, gabber and EDM, inviting her audience on a playful and unexpected adventure. Uruguayan DJ and producer YOZY supplies a shape-shifting mix for us, oscillating between experimental and broken rhythms to 4/4 techno and irresistible trance classics. The Barcelona-based artist also includes tracks from her upcoming album, dropping June 5th. Having released several contributions to VAs on Clan Destine Records, low income $quad, and Last Love Records, they have also delivered music to Human Club; a label based in Barcelona's Razzmatazz, where they are a resident DJ and run their own party CALIENTE. Additionally, YOZY has played for parties and festivals like Boiler Room x Primavera Sound, Raiders, Suicide Club, Voight-Kampff, Latineo, and many more. Bristol-based duo Field Case share a winding mix for us, snaking through slow-burning rhythms, meditative beats, and mystical soundscapes, exploring the deepest and most cerebral shades of techno. DJs Petrachore and Ohana are behind Field Case and began the project after meeting by chance in early 2023. They then formed Bristol’s first-ever queer community radio station, Transgression.fm, to showcase artists in the city’s creative realm. These days, Field Case are residents of Bristol events RTN and Queerky, where they continue to meld their differing musical backgrounds and sonic palettes. Their journey together has defined their sound, character and mystery, and we’re delighted to share a taster of that on this week’s mix.
