Channelling his own explorations in search of the soul inside the machine, @vril_01 draws from the deep well of his live performances to present his third LP for @delsinrecords, 'Animist'. Inside lie 12 pieces which seem to probe at the unknowable distance between tangible consciousness and the astral plane, imbuing even the most seemingly synthetic of materials with a living essence. Given his illustrious back catalogue, it’s no surprise to hear VRIL conjure explicitly electronic music with such loaded emotional impact and seemingly organic animus, but in the process he also toys with the idea of how far the technology’s spiritual potential can reach.

Opening with the ASMR ambience of Jin’s “Spring,” the next Various Artists mini compilation on On Board Music dives deep into a colourful and rhythmically unpredictable collection. There’s left-field club gear from the inimitable Polygonia, a dubby roller from Nicole and glitchy, downtempo electronics from Mown. Completing the EP is alow-slung house cut from Ukrainian duo Na Nich & Vera Logdanidi and an eerie drone piece from label founder Laura BCR.

The fourth music tale in the well-curated Whispering Signals catalog comes from the talented Colombian producer Zemög. The EP features three originals and one remix by the label boss, Daniel[i]. 

Derin is a masterful blend of mesmerizing pads, discernable deep techno bass lines, and shimmering percussions. The pads work like undercurrents, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that envelops the listener in a comforting embrace. The hypnotic bass line provides a solid foundation for the track, driving it forward with an irresistible groove. Meanwhile, the shimmering percussions add a touch of sparkle, creating a sense of momentum and energy that keeps the track moving. These elements combine to create a mesmerizing sonic journey that is both uplifting and hypnotic.

Landing as Raffaele Attanasio’s second outing on SHDW’s Mutual Rytm label, following his incredible debut ‘Quasar’ and recent appearance on the third instalment of the label’s Federation Of Rytm compilation, the EP is a showcase of an exciting artist with a new school take on techno while bringing real respect for the roots of his sound. He has played live on stage with the legendary Jeff Mills, and is involved in several other musical projects in different genres but reserves his finest techno for his own name.

Madrigal’ opens the EP, with Attanasio crafting an apocalyptic anthem composed of one sound, the Nord Wave 2 synthesizer and a pumping groove. It is pure dance floor heat with unrelenting drums that lock in the crowd. The brilliant ‘Heat’ then brings tribalism, with a powerful rolling groove peppered with chord stabs that bring it to life. ‘Aogiri Tree’ features rousing drums that emerge from the undergrowth and accompany the macabre lead synth. Its mischievous notes hint at hidden danger and keep you on your toes.

Keeping the energy high, ‘Stratford Fog’ delivers a battle between drums and the constantly pulsing bass. Edgy chord stabs and raw percussion make for a breathtaking groove that never lets up and keeps you utterly engaged. The title track is a laser-focused production that harks back to the golden age of Neapolitan techno with a perfectly designed groove, before digital bonus ‘Eleven’ brings hints of stylish Detroit techno with its lush chords and arpeggiated saw bassline, creating a continuous flow right to the last beat.

PREMIERE: Sarcasmo & Words Of Nio - Odisea(Distant 'Bizarre Acid' Remix) [WOOD]

There’s no denying Oliver Huntemann’s influence on the European techno scene, having built a long and impressive career from his Hamburg base. His Senso Sounds label has provided an outlet for consistently high quality techno and tech-house, and the arrival of his fifth album 'Pro- paganda' continues to show how his sound and aesthetic became even more deadly with time. One of the key moments of the album is 'Poltergeist' - an exceptional journey into Huntemann’s feel for sound design and space in a club context. 'Poltergeist' charms with its seeming sim- plicity, before you realize you have been bewitched by shifting, evolving grooves and haunting synth blasts. The young Russian Maksim Dark adds his own interpretation of 'Poltergeist' to the release, edging up the darkness a little more and producing a growling, tough techno workout that will go over big on a lot of floors this year.

BAHN · has always been committed to talents emerging, regardless of their origin: Keikari from Paris, the Portuguese squad A Thousand Details, Cloze Encounter, Ricky Cross and Nø Shelter, Uväll from Tiblisi, Italians The Alchemical Theory, British Tekra and South Korea's Scøpe and Messiah wait to bring their vision and talent in this first release destined to heat the tracks, combining hypnotic, dark and deep techno sounds with psychical waves and effective grooves, while waiting to be able to return to they with more energy than ever.

40% of the funds from this release will go to Proactiva Open Arms. Open Arms is a non-governmental, non-profit organization whose main mission is to protect, by having a presence at sea, those people who try to reach Europe fleeing from war, persecution or poverty.

They are specialized in surveillance and rescue missions of boats carrying people who need help in the Aegean and Central Mediterranean sea, as well as raising awareness of all the injustices that are happening which have been untold. In this period of COVID-19 pandemic, they are working in Spain with human, logistic and economic resources against the virus, focusing on nursing homes where the virus has especially damaged in Spain with over 30% of the overall deaths. But also collaborating with scientists and specialists. The rest of the funds from this first release will go to help our artists and the project, but also for further actions in order to support the scene that is in serious danger nowadays.

ABOUT US

TechnoTrippin' was established in the early 2014 in Barcelona to support the small techno scene that was emerging slowly but intensely.

In 2015 "Techno in the Forest", an underground festival on the outskirts of Barcelona, was born with the idea of creating strong links between artists, collectives, labels, dancers and everyone related to the underground scene in the city.
After 4 unforgettable editions, we decided we had accomplished our objective of uniting the scene and Techno in the Forest celebrated its last memorable gathering in 2018.

Since then, we have been operating only as a non-profit underground techno platform releasing podcasts & premieres from artists and labels around the globe.

In 2024, celebrating our 10th Anniversary, we launched our solidary techno label, focused on releasing music to help people who are in terryfing situations.

All the proceeds from all releases will go to different NGOs like Save The Children, UNRWA and Open Arms.*

We plan to put on another TechnoTrippin' in the Forest (V). We feel it's time again, after the pandemic, to support and unite the local techno scene by providing an unrivalled quality sound system, a place surrounded by nature, and an atmosphere that reflects the fact that we are not in it for the money. We put our heart and soul into it, simply because we can, and for us, techno is a way of life.
