An electronic music duo from Macedonia, currently based in Skopje. The name Binary Thoughts may speak for itself, but there is a much deeper meaning embedded within.

The ancestral way of thinking has always been 'binary'. To understand nature and all its phenomena, we made a world of oppositions (day/night, sun/moon, male/female). Where the law of "all or nothing” rules, there is no in-between. But the reality is indeed always more complex and more interconnected than what our 'perception' of the world suggests.

This perception beyond this “all or nothing” connected Ana Bogatinovska and Jovana Gjorgievska. At first strangers to each other, they met at a music festival in their native country; And after a long discussion about electronic music, they've decided to do a project that will connect their somewhat different but similar taste in electronic music.

Their melancholic, delicate and hypnotic sounds use 'binary thinking' as a motor to press on to a third term or a higher category that represents a transcending reconciliation or unity: where thesis and antithesis are always harnessed to yield a synthesis. Where seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary: Yin and Yang.

Currently, they are exploring the vast horizons of deep and hypnotic soundscapes intending to create their unique blend of creativity to start producing their music.

Medha's passion for technoid music is characterised by her constant search for inspiration and new tracks, which she brings together in her mixes with a mixture of intuition and thought. Influenced by the Berlin and Leipzig culture and club scene she developed her own way to express her passion. 
Her sound is characterised by concise basslines and rougher elements on the one hand, but also by deep and driving rhythms and repetitive sounds, creating an endless drive that always aims to make the listener dance. She has been an integral part of the PVC collective for over two years and organizes events herself.

Fabio was previously creating under the alias Recycle Duo, a harder techno project which saw him play in countries across the world including Colombia, Slovenia and Spain. Following callings from the deeper realms of techno, inspired by the likes of Claudio PRC, Ness, Oscar Mulero, Donato Dozzy,to name but a few, his creative urges evolved, soon coming to life through deep techno parties he co-organises in the woodlands of Sardinia, , and via his first solo EP coming soon, showcasing the deep, dark and groovy sounds.

Chaz is defying convention and forging his own path through the revered underground current. Approaching his soundscapes with the care of a scrupulous artisan, adding pensive electricity through interesting details — a methodology that has accrued him constant praise from distinguished artistic figures.

The man behind the project, Akshay shares his time between being a music programmer, booker, and an artist. He represents a new generation of artists who not only avoid over-elaboration and unnecessary attachments, but also live on an energetic aura that knows about the past while spreading its tentacles in the present.

The 8th instalment of our podcast series comes from special guest Jephta. 

Jefta Wattimena also known as Jephta is a Dutch DJ based in Rotterdam, who is also a resident of the Embodiment organization- a rave that is fueled by the vision of people who are dedicated to the dance floor. A vision in which both the DJ and the dancers are pushed to the very limit to create the most intense and cohesive vibe during the night. With a solid concept, dedicated residents and a successful event at Perron, they proved to be an integral part of the underground scene in Rotterdam, which is very refreshing to the current state of the underground music scene.

Jephta is an up and coming artist, who quickly established himself in the local scene after playing at events like Orphic in Amsterdam and Extended in The Hague. His undeniable talent and intelligent approach to selection and mixing were quickly recognized, which led him to playing bigger events such as Reaktor alongside artists like Lobster and Comrade Winston, Anthony Linell, Planetary Assault Systems, Bjarki, and Oscar Mulero. 

For Jephta electronic music is a way of expressing oneself and escaping reality. Its a moment where he can let go of the worries and stress of the day-to-day life and feel peace, anger or any emotion he needs to feel at that moment. As he is a passionate dancer and clubber himself, Techno is just the perfect match. 

Characterized by hypnotic, trippy and experimental sounds in his sets and heavily influenced by artists and labels like Drumcell, Ancient Methods, Northern Electronics and Posh Isolation, Jephta’s main goal is to make people feel the music he plays, which is often a selection of diverse sub-genres mixed in a smooth and consistent set. Driven by the values of techno culture and his own experiences, he wants to offer the audience an opportunity to establish a connection or simply set their emotions free and enjoy the dance floor while sharing the happiness with the ravers around. A soundscape created by Jephta means a full mind and body experience.  

He recorded this set for us at his home in The Netherlands, and you can expect a very consistent deep journey with just the right amount of melancholia, which progresses into a heavier more dancefloor oriented mood.

ABOUT US

TechnoTrippin' was established in the early 2014 in Barcelona to support the small techno scene that was emerging slowly but intensely.

In 2015 "Techno in the Forest", an underground festival on the outskirts of Barcelona, was born with the idea of creating strong links between artists, collectives, labels, dancers and everyone related to the underground scene in the city.
After 4 unforgettable editions, we decided we had accomplished our objective of uniting the scene and Techno in the Forest celebrated its last memorable gathering in 2018.

Since then, we have been operating only as a non-profit underground techno platform releasing podcasts & premieres from artists and labels around the globe.

In 2024, celebrating our 10th Anniversary, we launched our solidary techno label, focused on releasing music to help people who are in terryfing situations.

All the proceeds from all releases will go to different NGOs like Save The Children, UNRWA and Open Arms.*

We plan to put on another TechnoTrippin' in the Forest (V). We feel it's time again, after the pandemic, to support and unite the local techno scene by providing an unrivalled quality sound system, a place surrounded by nature, and an atmosphere that reflects the fact that we are not in it for the money. We put our heart and soul into it, simply because we can, and for us, techno is a way of life.
